Hi!! If you are planning to go to Tokyo Japan. I hope this book can help you. In this book I will be telling you some dos and don'ts in Japan, my itinerary (which goes by areas in Tokyo) and of course some of the food I recommend for you to eat for your trip.
Also, here are some tips and some background information about my trip.
For this trip, I went with 4 of my family members, 3 adults and one child.
During this trip, I stayed in an airbnb apartment in Shinjuku which is 4 minutes walk away from the Shinjuku station and Takashimaya.
I recommend you to stay there if you want to visit Tokyo. The owner not only provides free wifi up to 3GB per day and also gives complimentary snacks and toiletries. He will also send you some guides to help you plan for your trip. The apartment is just nice for 3 to 4 people and towels are provided.
In the middle of the trip, he will also check up on you to make sure you are fine and he answers your questions very quickly.
It is also very close to a ramen shop which many people queue for every night. Also, the apartment is very secluded yet it is convenient to the access for public transport and food.
I went to the apartment by bus. I bought the tickets from the Haneda airport. In the Shinjuku station, there is a tourist information centre which can help you and give you directions to go to destination. There are also bus services for you to go the places that are further away such as Disneyland, outlets, etc.
Also, we bought the Suica card at the Shinjuku station. It is a card for their JR train and buses where you can put money inside and tap it to go into the train when you exit, you must tap it again. However, if you are bringing a child (under 12) with you, bring their passport because the staff needs to confirm their age before giving it to you and a deposit of 500¥ will be taken away. So for this trip, I placed 5000¥ into the card and after the deposit I have 4500¥ inside my card.
*Also, you use the Suica in some shops to pay for your items. At the end of my trip, I used my Suica Card to pay for my stuff at Family Mart because in order to take the balance out, you have to pay an admin fee which isn't worth it. So even if you items are more expensive, you can pay with your Suica Card and give the rest in JPY. Then, go back to Shinjuku station and you can get your 500¥ back.
I went for this trip from 4 to 14 June 2017 and it was quite cold about 21 degrees celcius so bring a jacket if you are going during that period.
