Before I begin, here are some basic rules before you prepare for your trip in Tokyo, Japan

1. No answering phone calls on buses and trains.
Don't worry you can still use your phone but in Japan it is considered rude to answer your phone call on buses and trains.
2. You are allowed to drink on trains.
This may not seem surprising to many of you but in my country, it is not allowed.
3. No shoes when entering apartments.
If you are going to airbnb in Tokyo, DO NOT wear shoes.
4. Use chopsticks
The Japanese use chopsticks to eat their food so respect their culture. If you do not know how to use chopsticks please ask the waiter or vendors for your utensil of choice.
Also with regards to that, there are also some rules when using chopsticks.
Do not put your chopsticks into the bowl. Put it flat on the bowl
(Picture shown above)
Do not wave the chopsticks to the waiter to call for attention.
5. Slurp when eating noodles
In a restaurant, you may see many people slurping noisily. While this is considered rude in many other cultures, to the chefs, it means that their food is delicious.
6. Shrines and temples
While you are visiting shrines and temples, dress appropriately and do not talk loudly. Also, there are water sources in front of these temples and wash your hands there.
7. Do not blow your nose in public
8. Queue up when boarding trains
