Will you hold my hand?

As I lay down to die?

Fighting in this war,

I find that I cannot cry-

There are no more tears to spill,

No more lingering pains of doubt,

For the war is not over yet; still-

I find myself digging through grout

To seek some shelter from the storm

That sprung up from nowhere fast

And somewhere back home my child’s being born

I don’t know if I’m gonna last

But still I’m fighting in this war

I know if I survive, they’ll be endless scars

I just hope I survive beyond the door

And if I do, I’ll travel back home even though it’s still so far-

For home is where the heart is;

…And my love is still waiting for that first kiss.
