My feet hurt from walking in the sandy dessert. The wind had made weird drifts in the sand that are uncomfortable underneath my tired feet. The sun is bright and stings my eyes. I haven't had a drink of water in what feels like days. The results of not drinking make my tongue dry and sticky. I've been listening to the cicadas buzz for hours and it's getting on my nerves.
I know I need to get water and shelter. I'm looking, but my thoughts are fuzzy and and confusing as results of the shining sun beating down on me. I'm afraid of some of the animals that I've seen and wish even harder for a shelter to keep me safe from the.
Suddenly it comes to my attention that the cicadas have stopped buzzing and the noise is only stuck in my head now. How long have they been quiet? I wonder to myself. Why were the cicadas buzzing? Is it because of danger? Is something dangerous out there? I begin to feel panicked and want to run, only stopped because of my tired legs.
"It's fine," I tell myself out loud, trying to find some sort of comfort. "It's probably all in your head."
