“CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! CHUG!”

Niall shouted along with the rest of the group of people that had gathered around him and his best mates. This time it was Louis that was in the centre of attention, a massive glass of beer in front of him. Louis grinned and put his hand to his ear, making the crowd chant even louder. In one fluid movement the slender boy picked up the glass, drank it all and slammed it on the table, burping loudly. Niall roared with laughter and pulled his friend into a headlock.

“I knew you had it in you, bud!” He yelled. Louis wiggled under him and set himself free, pinning Niall to the ground. The two wrestled, laughing and shouting drunkenly, thrashing around the whole club. It’s these moments that made him want to stay in university forever. Niall managed to escape from Louis’s tight grip and sat on the bar stool, laughing like a madman and putting his sweater that he had taken off before the brawl back on.

“How about we find ourselves some fine ladies, huh?” Louis slid in next to Niall and elbowed him. “She’s not half bad.” Niall looked. Typical bleached-blonde, hot but ditzy.

“Nah. I want something new this time, Lou. Fresh. Different. Keep looking though.”

Just a few blocks away, Marcia sat in her dorm room, sketching furiously. Her dad had just pushed back his and her mom’s visit by a month, and she was furious. It was the third time this year. There was a knock on the door, and Marcia jumped, sending a jagged line through her neat drawing. Cursing, she laid her sketchbook and pencil down and slid off the bed, walking towards the door. She prayed it wasn’t her boyfriend, Mark. She wasn’t in the mood.

“Hey babe, open up.” Unfortunately, no such luck. Marcia opened the door and glared at her clearly drunk boyfriend.

“You’re drunk. Go to bed.” Marcia tried to close the door, but Mark planted his foot in the doorway.

“But I want you to come to a party with me. It’s only 11pm!” He protested. Marcia gritted her teeth.

“You’re already drunk and you haven’t hit the party yet? Some kind of new record for you, Mark.” Carolina’s musical voice sounded from behind her. Marcia turned around and saw her roommate/best friend standing in her bathrobe, fresh out of the bath, with a look of disgust. Carolina and Marcia had only met this year, when Marcia’s old roommate got kicked out and Carolina got selected for a special scholarship, which entitled her a room in the Burling Building, the most elite dorm in campus. Since Marcia’s old roommate, Rachel, got kicked out and Marcia was roommate-less, Carolina moved in. The two roommates didn’t get along at the beginning, but quickly learnt that constantly arguing would get them nowhere. Now they were inseparable. Carolina moved forward, and flipped her long black hair over her shoulder.

“I think you should leave now. You are in no state to be around your girlfriend.” Mark have a shout of drunken laughter and stumbled against the door.

“Come on baby. Just come and have some fun with me for the night. It’s just a party.” His speech was slurred and his eyes were rolling around. Marcia sighed and slammed the door closed.

“He’s a pig. You should break up with him.” Carolina shouted from the bathroom. Marcia sat on her bed. She knew her best friend had a point, but she didn’t want to leave Marc. Sure he could be an ass when he was drunk, but he was a sweetheart when he was sober. And damn good at sex…

“You’re not just staying with him because he’s good in bed, are you?” Carolina flung the door open and stared at Marcia in shock, four different shades of purple nail polish in one hand and the other covering her open mouth. Marcia laughed. Had she read her mind?
