A New Family?

"Starting today, Suhae will be staying with us." Jaejoong oppa announced in his household in front of his two younger brothers. I've heard so much about them when Jae oppa and eonni would talk about them but this is the first time I've ever seen them really.

They didn’t look so eager on having me here but beggars can't be choosers. I have to get along with them no matter what because I had nowhere else to go. "Suhae, this is Taemin and Karam, they're both older than you." Jaejoong introduced me to them. "Nice to meet you, please take care of me." I bowed down in front of the two boys. There was no question that they were brothers, they looked so alike.

"Doesn't she have other relatives she can live with?" Taemin whined slouching back onto the sofa.

"Where's she gonna sleep?" Karam said a little more reserved than Taemin. They all stayed silent eyeing each other.

"Well I'm not giving my room up." Taemin said.

"Neither am I. I need my room." Karam agreed.

Jaejoong sighed. "I-its okay, I can sleep on the sofa or something. It's no big deal." I said.

"Fine, you'll be sleeping in the living room until we figure something out." Jaejoong said with a slight tone of pity in his voice, "sorry if my brothers are brats and not gentlemen." He added ruffling my hair. I wasn't really in the position to debate over if I should get a room or not even if I am a girl. I can't do anything. I don't want to cause too much problems to the oppas. "Well, I hope we all get along nicely, after all, you're a part of our family now." Those words were really reassuring.

My whole family died when a tanker lost its brakes and crashed into our family car with my sister, mother and father inside on their way home from a company party late that night. When I woke up, I was alone in the world with no one to turn to. We weren't close with any of our relatives as far as I knew because my mom and dad eloped to Seoul when they were young so they got disowned.

There was only one person who picked me up after all of this, Kim Jaejoong. It was coming with him or be taken in by social workers. I don't want to be with complete strangers. At least, Jaejoong oppa was someone I knew for almost half my life.

We ate dinner that night together outside. These brothers I could tell were the same in a lot of ways but for some reason, they didn't talk to each other that much. Nobody could keep a conversation going while we ate. It was like they didn't know each other.

Karam was a duplicate of Jaejoong oppa. They were like two peas in a pod. From hairstyles, to their chins, they looked alike. Karam was really quiet with his eyes wandering of out the window watching people pass by as if he was in deep thought. Then there was Taemin oppa. I watched him who was across the table. He was just as good looking as his brothers. He was there, tapping like a mad man on his phone, sending hundreds of emails per minute. I couldn't believe they were brothers, why were they so awkward together? I imagined them like any brothers I see on TV, rough, playful, noisy. But no. they were all in their own little bubbles.

On my first day of waking up in Jaejoong's house, it wasn't that warm. I thought that I'd get to talk to the oppas and act like a real family. I thought they'd be concerned about my well being because you know, I suddenly became an orphan but I guess not since they all had much more important things to do. Its not that I seek attention, I just want to feel a little more welcome.

I promise I'll make this work.
