1 Year Later
Breaunna.
I walked out of the store with Zonnique and began walking towards my car, when I heard an ever so familiar voice call my name. We both turned and saw someone I'd never thought I'd see ever again. We stopped as he caught up with us and smiled at me. "Hey, Bre. Hey Zonnique." She scoffed and chuckled at the same time. "Hey, Craig. I'll be in the car, Breaunna." I handed her the keys as she walked away. I just stared at him. I honestly have nothing to say to him. Even after a year.
"So you can't speak now?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "What is there to say, Craig?" "Well, an apology would be decent. But for now, a 'hi, how've you been' will suffice." He had this ridiculous ass smirk on his face and it irritated me oh so much. I wanted to reach up and punch him in the jaw. "Apologize for what?" "Planning to leave me when Jake and I were pinned up in the hospital." "Nobody had plans to leave you. I was going to explain to the both of you how I felt, but choose you anyway. Yet, you decided to leave the hospital and transfer without telling me first." He smiled and took of his sunglasses. The way he looked at me with his eyes made my heart melt, but it hardened again when I heard another voice call out to me. By the look on Craig's face, it wasn't someone I'd be too thrilled to see. I turned and saw him walking over to us.
"Jacob?" I said with such shock in my voice.
Jacob.
I smiled at her as her face was ridden with shock. She then smiled at me and pulled me into a hug. Oh, how I've missed her gentle touch. After what seemed like an eternity of hugging, I heard another voice clear their throat. I looked up and saw Craig as we pulled away from each other. "Jacob." "Craig." Breaunna looked at us both with a confused expression. "Soo, yall clearly haven't seen or spoken to each other since the day yall left the hospital." I shook my head. "He blew me off after I 'stole his girl'." She scoffed.
"Your girl? Okay, Craig. Well look, Jacob. My number hasn't changed, so don't hesitate to text me if you ever wanna go out and catch up." She planted a soft kiss on my cheek and walked away with a smile. I smirked at Prodigy and started walking into the store. He followed me in talking a ton of shit. "Look, bro. I had her first. She's supposed to be with me, and you know it." "No, I had her first. You may have had some cute little schoolboy crush on her 15 years ago, but I was with her before you." I turned to him with the same smirk I had before I came inside. He couldn't say a single word.
"I beat you to the punch, kid. Deal with it. Maybe if you just talked to her before you up and left, we'd be on opposite sides right now." I walked off and grabbed a shopping cart. I wasn't about to let him get to me like that. Not now, not ever.
