Brent is feeling like The Stretch. "Why am I even doing this?" he thinks by himself, laughing. He now understands why exactly his mom said his friends aren't the best influence on him.
"Is this even safe?" he asks.
"Does it matter?"followed by nervous laughter, his best friend, Ross asks in an annoyingly sarcastic way. Brent was probably in the most awkward position of his life, and all, for just a ball.
His feet was on Ross' flattened hands, and his arms stretching towards a big oak tree at about 4 o' clock on school grounds. His body was the real problem. It was practically tangled around the tree branches and he is pretty sure he saw a big, buzzing wasp-nest around this part of the tree.
After about five minutes of struggling, the ball finally fell with a loud, hard thump. Surprised, both of them looked down to see a girl rubbing her head looking dangerously intimidating.
Brent and Ross fell to the ground with a plough laughing all the way. Ross, already standing for some reason, offers Brent his hand and pulls him up. Brent, still giggling, gets his first look upon this girl. Never has he ever really understood the meaning of being "swept off his feet."
He stood there with no particular impression and instantly Ross came to sense of what was going on and he changed from a friend who insults him on a daily basis to Brent's wingman in a matter of seconds.
"Ahh, uhm, hi, sorry for the...accident, we..."Ross said before being so rudely interrupted by the girl.
"THAT THING WAS HUGE!" exclaimed the girl. "WHAT WERE YOU EVEN DOING!?" Brent, who has still not said a single word, was probably bleeding on the inside by now when he finally scraped enough courage around to talk.
"Hi, uhm, sorry for the...accident." Today was not only the day Brent saw the first girl he ever liked, it was also the day that he saw Ross facepalm the hardest in his life.
"Yeah well, you better be sorry." She said. "My name is Amelia." She said her name as though it was of the highest form of royalty, but still in a cute and tiny kind of way.
"Amelia" Brent thought. It slid off his tongue like he has said it a million times.
After a moment of silence, the girl walked back to her original planned destination, probably rolling her eyes in disappointment. The moment she left Brent fell to the grass followed by Ross doing the exact same thing.
"Dude, you're so in love." He said.
"Dude, I'm so in love."
