--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When every child is born, the are gifted a charm. This charm will either exactly match or be the other half of another child's charm. No one knows how or why these charms do what they do, but no one is willing to question the power of the charms. These charms will lead you to the person you are destined to spend the rest of your life with, your soulmate. It does this by varying temperature based on the distance from its sister charmMichael Mell was a hopeless romantic, but you could never get him to admit it. The idea of soulmates and unconditional love based on a small pendant given to the them by birth. The idea has fascinated him since he was a kid and any time he saw soulmates together his heart filled with joy and hope. Though you never caught him wearing it, his charm was always with him. Maybe in his pants or jacket pocket or maybe in his backpack, it was just always near. Jeremy however, almost never touched his. It sat on his dresser, under piles of clothes gathering dust until his senior year. Both his friend Christine and dad forced him to at least have it with him. Jeremy put it in his backpack to get his father and friend to leave him alone.
He walked to school with Christine so he didn't have to wait in the parking lot of 7/11 for Michael after what they did last time. Lets just say the slushies didn't make it to the cup.... Anyways, by the time they got to school the halls were flooded with students talking to their friends or standing alone trying to disappear completely. Jeremy laughed, remembering when he had done just that any time Michael wasn't around.
Ever since the squip-cident, he had friends and was even still somewhat popular. Sure, a lot of people were still mad about the ordeal, but he was still up near the top of the social ladder. He now had friends, not just Michael. He had Christine , Rich , Jake , Chloe , Brooke , Jenna , and , most importantly , his player one. Michael Mell. While he had these friends, he only ever spent time with Christine and Michael since all of his friends happened to be soulmates. He wasn't jealous, or so he said.
The only people without soulmates in his group were Jenna Michael Christine and himself, so they often were left out together. Jenna stayed home but Michael Jeremy Christine spent time together outside of school, unless Michael and Jeremy decided it was a video game night or Christine was busy. Tonight though, the group was going to hang out together at Rich's house and they promised no gross couple stuff for the other four, at least while they're sober.
The first day is never eventful, especially for seniors, and Jeremy ended up sleeping through nearly every class. At the end of the day, he met up with Michael and Christine in the parking lot since Michael was the only of the three with a car. Jeremy climed in the passenger seat and Christine in the back. The whole ride, the three talked about that day and cracked jokes. When they got there, they had already placed bets on who would be wasted first.
"I promise Jeremy it will be Jake. He's probably already drinking and its only 4 in the afternoon." Christine had seen Jake drink and she knew it didn't take much
"No no it's going to be Jeremy. He's the lightest weight in the world!"
"Michael! That isn't true!"
"Whatever you say Jer." Michael sounded patronizing enough but then he decided to wink, causing Jeremy's face to flush. Christine and Michael laughed as they all went in the house.
Everyone else was already there and, as Christine predicted, Jake already had a drink in his hand. "Hey guys welcome to the party that isn't really a party!" They could tell he was wasted. Christine looked at Michael smugly and Michael handed her a 5.
Once everyone was there and wasted they sat in a circle on Rich's back porch. They joked, complained, and just talked about nothing yet everything at the same time, until everyone was wasted.
"Hey guys I have a great idea!" Rich pretty much screamed this in the middle of a conversation. "Heere! Truth or dare?"
Michael knew this was a bad idea and he knew he should stop this before it started, but the alcohol clouded his mind and he couldn't say anything. Then, he heard what he dreaded.
"Truth!" Jeremy sounded way more excited than a senior should but he didn't care.
"Deepest secret. Go." Rich said the one thing Michael would rather die before hearing while his best friend was drunk. He was consumed by fear and anxiety but he couldn't do anything. Jeremy was going to say it and he was going to hate himself for it in the morning.
"Well ok I guess." Michael was frozen. He tried to tell Jeremy to stop, but Jeremy's drunk mind couldn't process what was coming out of his mouth. He was going to regret what he said for a long time
