When Credence lived in America, if you told him, In a few years you'll marry the little sister of the man who tried to help you control your Obscurus and you'll be happy, he would have teared up and said, Stop mocking me!

But here he was, lying beside her.

Her dirty blonde curls were spread out beneath her like a stain.  Her lashes caressed her rosy cheeks. She truly was beautiful.

He kissed her cheek. "Are you asleep?" he asked in a teasing voice. Caoimhe groaned. "Keep waking me up, and I'll never sleep again." She opened her eyes groggily and grinned at him. "I like waking you up. You look beautiful while sleeping, but you're so much more beautiful when you're awake!" Credence brushed her curls away from her face as he spoke. "Terrific! But I do enjoy sleeping," Caoimhe rolled her eyes playfully. He laughed. She grinned at him, her eyes drifting shut again.

"Caoimhe?"

"Hmmm?"

"Tell me about how you found me. I don't know the story."

"Credence, no one knows the full story except me."

"Okay, tell me the full story then."

"Ugh! I can't ever sleep!" But, with a soft sigh, she began.

"Dad needed me to go get some ingredients for a potion he was making from the woods near our house. So, I took my wand and a knife and went out. I found the bush I was looking for and gathered plenty of it. I took a shortcut through the woods to get home, but when I got there, I realized I didn't have my knife. I had forgotten it by the bush.

"At first, I thought, 'Well, whatever. I'll come back for it in the morning.' But something in my gut told me to go back. So I did. I started to take the shortcut, but the same feeling told me to go the long way. I obeyed. When I had nearly gotten there, I saw something in the distance fall to the ground. The feeling told me to run to the thing. I listened, and I realized it was you.

"You were so cold you felt like ice. I forgot the knife again and focused on dragging you home. Dad said if I had been fifteen minutes longer, it would have been too late for you."

She smiled up at him. He smiled back. "Imagine what would have happened if you remembered the knife," Credence said, picturing his cold, dead body lying in the woods. "Both of our fates determined by a knife." "I know. But  feel like I deserve to sleep after forgetting that knife." With those words, she rolled over and shut her eyes again. Credence chuckled, rolling her over and snuggling up by her side. He kissed her nose and allowed his eyes to shut.
