Coming out

It was August. No one but us and our closest friends knew. We thought this would be the right time to come out.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" I asked Mikasa subtly. "I guess so... I'm just worried about how people will react, you know? Especially my parents." I knew what she meant. The past few weeks, her anxiety and depression had gotten worse over it. "We don't have to do this now, you know. We can leave it for a few weeks" I said, trying my best to comfort her. "Sasha, it's fine. They'll find out one way or another, i mean, it's better sooner than later." She was right. The sooner we tell her parents, the better. Hopefully.

"Honey! You're home! I made your favourite, lasagna!" Mikasas' mother exclaimed. Her dad had simply said " Hi honey, how was your day?" And went back to reading his paper. Her parents realized i was here, by that time. They stood and stared at us. We were holding hands.

"Mikasa... Sasha? Umm...Mikasa, may we have a word? If you don't mind Sasha?" Her mother had said. We could already see the disgust in their eyes at us. "Oh. That's okay." I then whispered to Mikasa "If they hurt you, come downstairs." She simply nodded, and went up the stairs.

I heard shouting. Yelling. Mikasa had said "We deserve the right to be happy! And if you don't like us together, well hard cheese, because it's happening! You dont get to control who i go out with!" Her mother had then started shouting curses. This went on for some time until i heard a door slam and footsteps coming down the staircase. "Can we go please?" Mikasa had asked, breathless. "Of course. C'mon, jump in the car."

We had barely pulled out of the driveway when she broke down. "I can't believe this. Why are they so mad at my feelings? I just don't get it... why do they feel like i'm just one of their puppets? The same thing happened to Eren when he said he was with Levi. And they actually had the guts to say to me, 'Your real parents would leave you out for the wolves!' I mean, what type of guardian would say that? Especially after they watched they're parents murdered right in fromt of them?" She was doing her anxious talking forever thing again. "Honey, calm down. It will be okay... Or not. I would give them some time to heal, if they will. I understand what they did to Eren. I couldn't believe it, like, it actually made me feel sick, like how they're treating you. But wait, he's with our french teacher?!" I think this made her feel better. We stopped of at a gas station and i got us both some water. We then drove back to our house in silence. Mikasa said as we pulled up on the driveway. "I think so"
