Erzsi deemed me healthy enough to leave the hospital, but we weren't returning to Acheron's land, but rather, some very fancy apartment-like homes. But much bigger. Each tenant holding a floor to their own.

"I stay here when I have to do business... I was giving my mother as much time with my father as they could have together." It was highly Elven styled, ornate luxury, and magic radiating at every corner. "The trial will come soon... The elders have heard your name, seen what you can do, even though you've never shifted into your malicious form here. There are eyes all over the world, and I bet you Eris told the elders about you. Demons aren't part of Thelrissia. They're part of the Underworld, Terra Obscurum. Land of the Dark. The only name we could give it."

"Then how did my mother..."

"Demons aren't unwelcome, but they're not kindly looked upon. As long as they cause no trouble, they're welcome to attend festivals, partake in festivities, and do business. Your mother was a fashion seller here. Her dark clothing had a unique magic that gave people happiness. You'd think she's a regular Fae, but she did dabble in some dark magic, as it was her being."

"Then how exactly did she meet my father?" I asked.

"Well... Two dragons got in a brawl over a girl... Destroyed her store and a lot of precious merchandise, and her favorite statuette of Anubis, made of black crystal. Your father kept her anger under wraps and made the dragons pay up, and forged her a new statue of Anubis, made from Obsidian. That right there, bought her love. He knew she was his mate the second he laid eyes on her, but inter-species mating usually was rare at the time... Your father was a well sought after dragon, a fine hunter... Your family's land is right at the border of Elvish lands and Fae lands. Since dragons are a neutral species, we live where we find ourselves best. He fit best between where Anora could be close to her home lands, and where he could be close to his own." Wow... I didn't realize they were so... Normal. Normal in my book was now changed. Seeing dragons, annoyed Goddesses, and pesky whelps were my normal. "I will take you to see it one day, but I want the madness to pass, first."

"I would like that." I pressed myself against his chest. The warmth and love that radiated off him was soothing for my body and soul. Something I had never felt before I met him.

"For now, let's get you fed and introduce you to your culture, but American style."

"Television?"

"Yes, ma'am." Just like that, he could put a smile on my face and make me laugh so hard, my belly ached. It took my mind off my sadness, but it was still there. A child I would never meet. A child who would never have the chance to live, to fly, or to be loved with a physical affection.

It hurt... It hurt so damn bad.

"Saph... I felt the same thing you are feeling now. I want her dead, same as you. I want her dead for robbing our child's life and nearly yours. I want her to suffer. I want her to feel exactly as I did. The same as you are feeling now. I want to line up men until she finds her mate, then I want him to get her pregnant, then break the bond. Then, I want that devious devil spawn ripped out of her, just like she did you." He wrapped his arms around my scarred belly from behind. "Then.. We leave her to die. This is how dragons live."

Mate thinks the way I do... My demon purred at me. I wouldn't have thought of a child, but I loved him. I almost stopped breathing at my Demon's words. She was the one I was worried about. That she would reject him and in turn, make me do the same.

Silent tears slid down my cheek as I finally achieved acceptance from the part that made me cause pain to so many. That made me hurt myself so many times.
