Genesis sighed heavily adjusting her doctor's face mask over her mouth as she watched the world go by, outside the passenger window, uninteresting people shopping in uninteresting buildings.

"You're going to love it here Sis, you're going to make lots of friends. It's a fresh new start!" her mother said stopping at a red light on top of the hill.

"And I wish you'd take that off honey." She gives her a look.

Genesis rolled her eyes putting her sunglasses on

" I wanna go back to Ireland ma."She mumbled.

Her mother sighed shoulders sagging, her fake exuberance leaving her.

"You know why we had to leave Genesis. Now, look at that view, they say it's the best in town."

Genesis turned and looked out the windshield at the city's skyline. She had to admit that it was a great view.

" Now," Her mother said picking up her directions. " I believe it's straight to your school."

Genesis rolled her eyes, her mother was hopeless with directions. She hoped she got there in time for lunch at least.

"Ah-ha here we go, it's straight down three lights on the right." she beams setting down her directions.

Fifteen minutes later Genesis got a look at her new form of hell. At a glance the school looked unfinished and completely uncared for, a smash of concrete and brick. The newer parts were made of smooth concrete, you could tell they were trying for a clean look except all the concrete was either graffitied with gang logo or profanity. The rest was made of brick, the corners crumbling under the weight of time, except one wall, this wall was covered completely by a painting of the town's skyline at night. The same skyline she saw minutes before.

"Oh wow that's amazing. It looks like the same artist of those pictures you've been taking the past few days. What are you going to do with them?" her mother asked stopping the car.

"Get them tattooed all over my body?" Genesis retorts getting out of the car and taking a picture of the wall. "I don't know, I like them I have artist envy."

Her mother narrows her eyes. "You better not get them tattooed on you young lady. The one you have already is enough. Your cousin's lucky I don't kill that husband of hers."

Genesis smiles, only tellable by the upwards tilt of her eyes, reaching up to touch the question mark inked on the back of her neck.

"Grà agat mam. See you after school." she grabs her bag and jogs away to the front office to sign in.

Bursting through the front doors she knocks her bag into someone.

"Brón." she says quietly heading to the desk.

Toxic yellow eyes follow her, a pale baby blue brow arched. Shaking his head the guy adjusts the painters mask more firmly on his face before walking out into the courtyard, where his friends are waiting.

Turning, a guy, with almost the same colored eyes, grins upon seeing him.

"krayon, dude you missed it. I dared Temp to shove four twinkies into his mouth."

An eyebrow went up.

"damn, did he do it?"

the boy nods grinning impishly. "oh yeah, then he gagged and ran to the bathroom to throw them up." he laughs.

"You're an ass." Krayon said laughing along with him.

"that makes you one as well." A guy said sitting next to them typing on his laptop.

"takes one to know one Zeek." the guy said sticking out his tongue.

"You're a child."

"Again takes one to know one."

"Shut up Chrono." Krayon said finally, grabbing his bag.

Chrono sighed. "man I bet nothing interesting's going to happen today." he huffs grabbing his bag as well.

Krayon's eyes crinkle at the corners, evidence that he's smiling.

"and I bet your wrong."

Chrono gives him a quick look of confusion before the bell sends them running to class.
