Border patrol, possibly the most painful activity in the world. Who the hell would cross the Hellwood pack territory line? It's just plain flipping dumb...

Looking over at Matt and Jack, both of them are talking quietly, probably discussing pack matters. Jack is one of the betas, he being annoyingly loyal to Matt. It's like he's hoping by sucking up, Matt will give him his role.

I roll my eyes, smirking.

"What you looking at Evans?" I hear Lori laugh as she comes up behind me.

"Your fellow beta is trying to become alpha again" I said, nudging towards the two.

Lori just rolls her eyes, putting her hair in a messy ponytail.

"It's a miracle no one has punched him yet"

I chuckle, Lori rolling her eyes once more. She can probably hear whatever they are talking about. Perks of being second in command I guess.

"You on border patrol tonight?" she asks, glancing at me.

"How'd you know?"

"Because the moon is already up and I'm sorry Chase, but your wolf crazy" she says and for emphasis she makes circular motions with her finger by her ear.

"I'm not that bad"

"Chase, you're always the first to shift and the last one to shift back. Don't go lying to yourself. When you shifted for the first bloody time you stayed in your wolf for goodness knows how long. Matt had to command you to shift back"

This time I roll my eyes, "Well, speaking of shifting – probably should be heading off"

"Enjoy wolf-boy" Lori chuckle as I trudge off. About halfway I start taking off my shirt and jeans, stashing the clothing in a tree before shifting into my wolf. I never got the whole appeal of catching ammonia because I wasn't wearing a shirt. Sure, I'll heal a lot quicker but I didn't need to show everyone something every werewolf has. We all had pecks, we get it.

That's what I disliked about the Moonshine pack. That and the whole we're-so-good personality they kept lugging around. They were all cocky assholes. I started walking the border line, wishing that I was instead able to just go and run around. Enjoy myself.

I trudged around for about four hours when I heard . They were being loud, irritatingly loud. I went further into the shadows, hoping to actually sneak up on one of them if they came over the border. I really hope one of them would come.

I'm bored...

A soft whistle suddenly pricks my ears and I can't help but smile when I look up. Even though I can't see exactly who it is, I know that those feet are in Hellwood territory. Finally, some damn excitement!

The voice is clear and clearly a girl's. Thought, gender never mattered to me. She was still screwed.

"Hey! Idiot! You're heading into Hellwood territory!" she sounded annoyed yet protective. Nice to know she cares about a bunch of idiots so much. One of the wolves bark, clearly the leader. The rest of the pack stops and then they do the most stupid, big-headed thing they could think of.

They howl. I let out a low howl, anger filling me. Cocky assholes...

The girl yells something else at them and the whole pack begins to howl but at least starts to turn around. These things need to be led down a peg or two. I mean, I swear the leader is trotting.

I take a step back, letting the low rumble build in my throat before I open my mouth. What comes out surprises even me. The howl is low and makes the floor slightly rumble below my paws. I can see the leader of the buffoons look back thought they probably can't see me through the greenery. He quickly scans the area before speeding up, knowing that they've been seen.

I glance up at the person in the tree, kind of wishing that something would happen. When I start to hear the snapping of a branch my wish is granted. I glance up and then regret it instantly.
