"Zaaannneee, get upppppp! We're gonna be late for school!"
Wren complained, as his sleeping boyfriend just stayed, well, asleep. They'd been dating for a while now, ever since Wren tried to commit suicide in the bathroom. When Zane walked in, he, too, decided to commit suicide. They were both in a coma for months, but they did wake up and recover. But that's a story for another day.
Wren was a kinda tall boy, with short black hair that fell to his neck, and wide blue eyes. He wore a long mustard-yellow overcoat and a smooth white t-shirt and black jeans. His pale skin was covered in small freckles and his eyes were weighed down by black bags that never disappeared, no matter how much sleep he got. His black socks went up to his knees, and he wore a pair of loose-fitting black shoes.
Zane was just like his boyfriend. He was tall, skinny, and had black hair just like him. Though it always covered his left orange eye, and it was always a mess. He wore a black sweater with white stripes, and black jeans covered in tears and rips. He wore a collar around his neck that said his name, and it was a beautiful blue color, just like Wren's eyes. His sleeves always covered his wrists, which were scarred up and basically destroyed. Wren's wrists were like that too, but not nearly as bad as Zane's.
The two had taken a much-needed break from school. They didn't have to worry about homework or anything, the teachers had decided to give them some mercy. They were out of school for what seemed to be forever, but they were only out for a few months. And they enjoyed every last moment of it. But now they had to go back, even though they rather die then go back, but what were they suppose to do?
Zane groaned and swatted at Wren's hand. "Five more minutes.." He groaned, and Wren crossed his arms, huffing. "C'mon! We're gonna be late!" He grabbed Zane's pale hand, being careful of the scars, and started to pull. He pulled and pulled and eventually got Zane off, but only for Zane to fall off the bed and land on the floor. "Ow." Zane said bluntly.
He got up and sighed, not bothering to change his clothes and slipped his shoes on. The two grabbed their bookbags. Zane had a black one while Wren had a light grey one. "Are you ready?" Zane asked as he opened the door to their small apartment. Wren gulped, his throat dry. "Sorta.." He said softly, and Zane smiled before stepping out, and they made their way to school, hand-to-hand.
No one knew that the two were dating. They didn't tell anyone, mostly out of fear. Most people hated gays, and they wanted to be safe. To be protected. But that was...extremely hard. They couldn't hold hands or hug, or students would get suspicious. The last thing that they wanted was to get beat up.
As they walked into the light-pink colored school, the air seemed to get heavy, and everything seemed to stop. People watched and stared as the two made their way down the halls, and Wren casted his head down. Zane gulped. They heard whispers, whispers and saw people pointing at them.
"It's them."
"They tried to commit suicide in the bathroom."
"Did you hear? They tried to overdose."
"They did it together too."
"That's strange."
Scared, the couple walked down the halls, their feet moving faster and faster. Zane gripped onto Wren's arm, almost bruising it. They kept their heads down, and their bodies low. They needed to find a quiet spot. A place away from the others.
"Garden."
Zane hissed, and Wren gave a silent nod. The couple made a sudden turn, and ran down the halls, towards the beautiful garden at the back of the school. Thankfully, it was empty.
Wren loved flowers, Zane was allergic, but he didnt complain. If Wren was happy, he was happy.
"We'll get through this."
Zane said, lifting Wren's chin and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"Promise?"
Wren asked softly, starting to tremble as he put his bag down. Zane nodded and smiled.
"I promise."
Wren smiled, and kissed his hand. But didn't notice that Zane's other hand was behind his back, and his fingers were crossed.
Were they really going to survive another year here?
