Homework Overload

Who knew missing so much school would make you go so far behind? Zane stared dumbly at the math paper infront of him, trying to make sense of all the new symbols and words.

"Huh?"

Zane frowned, as the teacher droned on and on, but he didn't understand anything that she was saying. Wren wasn't in this class, which was unlikely for both of them. Zane knew that everyone was staring at him, and he knew that people were staring at Wren too. But he couldn't say anything.

He felt someone tap his shoulders and looked up to see a young girl with short brown hair and wide blue eyes. A pair of silver glasses were pressed against her pale skin, and she wore a large black hoodie and ripped jeans. She was a little chubby, and was pretty short, but had a goofy-looking smile on her face.

"You're Zane, right?"

She whispered, her voice soft and drifted through the air. Zane nodded, though avoided her eyes. He just wanted to work in peace...

"I'm Madison! I'm assigned to help you on your work, since you missed so many days of school! It's nice to meet ya, Mr. Zane!"

She said with a soft giggle. He rolled his eyes and tried to push her away, but to no avail. She leaned over and looked down at his paper, noticing that he was struggling. She took out a blue pen and began to write something down on the paper. Though Zane couldn't see it and sighed, looking out the window.

He really hoped Wren was doing okay. If he got hurt...or died, Zane wouldn't know what to do with his life. He would probably end it, to be honest. Wren was his everything! Without him, he would be nothing. It's not like his father or brother cared about him anyways.

Zane was the younger brother, and was overshadowed by Garroth, his older brother. Garroth was always favorited, and got great grades and had a lot of friends. Zane was the complete opposite of this. Garroth had long dirty blond hair and green eyes that always shined. His tanned face was covered in small freckles, and his muscles bulged out from his clothes. Though Zane noticed, that after his suicide attempt, Garroth had been trying to contact him a lot more then he tried to before. Though he mostly ignored it.

He was snapped out of his thoughts by the snap of fingers and looked down, Madison had done all the work for him in bright blue ink. She had a concerned look on her face.

"Are you okay?"

She asked and Zane hastily nodded, knawing on his blood-red lip. He looked away as he rubbed his eyes, yawning. He felt so...tired. Maybe because he hasn't gotten much sleep lately. So he hasn't been focused.

"I'm fine.."

He insisted, though it was a blatant lie. And she could see it, but decided to keep her mouth shut.

Madison opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, the bell rang and Zane jumped up. He slid all of his stuff in his bag and quickly ran out of the classroom. That was it. He survived another day. He texted Wren, saying that he would come home later then usual. Why?

He was going to see his family.
