Chapter 5
And it was a long night, but it was also one of the best nights I’ve ever had in my entire life. We were the only two in the theater laughing our butts off the entire time. Then, the next thing I know, we’re going to another movie, and then dinner out near the ocean. Slowly, but surely, Galen and I got closer than just friends. Jaidee, of course, says it’s because of her and that she knew it would happen all along. All in all, this is turning out to be the perfect summer, even though it’s only been a month.
“Hey chica,” Jaidee says, hopping onto my bed. I look up at her in confusion as she grins down at me.
“Who said you can come over?” She rolls her eyes while putting her arms behind her head.
“Since when did I ever ask for permission?” she asks, making me grin and roll my eyes. “Anyways, what have you been doing today?”
“Just thinking,” I reply back and I get a little knowing look from Jaidee.
“About a Mr. You-Know-Who,” she states as if she knows that it would by my answer. I roll my eyes, smirking at her as I stretch out further on my bed.
“Kind of, but more of this whole summer so far. It’s been too good to be true. I’m waiting for something to jump out and tell me that it’s all been a prank,” I say honestly, looking over at Jaidee who just grins at me.
“Aw, is someone in loooove,” she draws out the word while poking me in the stomach causing a blush to crawl into my face. Her sky eyes glow with excitement and humor.
“Nooo!” I shout, sitting up.
“Yes!”
“No!”
“Wimp!” Jaidee accuses making me stick a tongue at her as a comeback comes to mind.
“Loser!”
“Jerk!”
“Stupid!”
A knock on the door interrupts our pretend fighting and we both look up to see Galen standing there sheepishly. “Am I interrupting anything?”
“Nope!” Jaidee and I say at the same time. We look at each other before bursting out in laughter. I roll around on the bed while gripping my stomach. The next thing I know, I’m falling to my hard floors, but it just makes me laugh more.
“Well, I’ll be going,” Jaidee says after we both calmed down. “Just remember, I call maid of honor,” she says, giving me a mock glare as a blush flares up on my face. She smirks before skipping out of my room. Galen looks at the two of us for a second before shrugging his shoulders, ignoring the last comment thank God.
“I seriously worry about that girl.” Galen says, coming over to help me up from the floor.
“Me too,” I agree, laughing slightly as he twirls me around before pulling me into a hug. “And to what do I owe the honor of having you visiting me?” I ask, looking up at him.
“Oh, since when is it bad for me to want to visit my girlfriend?” he asks and I look up at him in confusion.
“Girlfriend? You don’t have a girlfriend,” I say as I feel my heart constrict as sadness fills my veins. “And if you do, then what are we?” I ask, anger covering my sadness as I remove myself from his arms. I glare at him, poking my finger into his face. “I’m not about to let you cheat on some poor girl and I’m not going to let you play with my emotions. If that’s-EEP!” I let out a squeal as he pulls me into another hug, his chest vibrating with his laughter. “This is not funny,” I huff out, but I wrap my arms around his waist anyways. Is it weird to say that I like the way he smells?
