"And just as quickly as the false memory surfaced, it vanished and Dom was okay. It felt so real. Like it had actually happened." Scarlet shuddered.
"And you said the bracelet he was wearing had turned black and looked burnt?" Fred questioned, taking a bite out of his Popsicle.
Scarlet nodded. She had sent word to the twins the very next morning by owl, informing them of the incident and advising them to hurry over.
Several weeks prior, the twins had taught Scarlet how to send letters by owl. And by using some of their saved up money, they had bought Scar her very own owl. Granted, her owl wasn't brand new, top of the line. The twins bought Scar's Greater Sooty Owl from a secondhand pet shop.
Scar's owl, which she had named Ebony, was rather small. Her facial disc was grayish-brown with a dark greyish-brown rim. Her face was paler towards the lower rim and darker towards the eyes and the base of the bill. Ebony's eyes and feathers were spotted with white; looking as if they held the entire galaxy. All morning Scarlet paced around the house agitated. Waiting for either a response from the boys, or for them to show up.
Three hours later, and a lot of pacing, the doorbell finally rang.
Wrenching open the door and pulling the boys inside, Scarlet dragged them into her room and closed the door.
As Scarlet sat on the floor in front of them, there was a knock at her door before it opened and Monica poked her head around the corner.
"Hello boys."
"Hullo Mrs. Lewis!" The twins chorused.
"Would you kids like some Popsicles?"
"Popsicles?" Fred repeated, looking at Scarlet puzzled.
Scars mom didn't seem to notice, "I'll bring them up for you guys in a minute. How about we all go swimming later this afternoon, when your brother gets back Scarlet? Boys you're more than welcome to come with us." And with that, she was gone.
"Your mom is so nice... What are Popsicles? (I don't know why it keeps capitalizing Popsicle) George asked.
"They're frozen treats. But that's besides the point! We need to talk about what happened yesterday." Scarlet answered. "I'm kind of scared."
And with that, she launched into the story of last evenings events.

"Mhm. The stones used to be white, like pearls. I tried painting them blue, but it wasn't working so I only managed to get one painted." Scarlet stated, eating the last of her frozen treat.
"So-o-o.. Any ideas? Fred?" Scarlet looked at him pleadingly, then turned to George. "George? Please you guys, I need to know that I'm not crazy."
"Scarlet, we don't think you're crazy. We believe you." Fred grabbed her hand reassuringly.
"What I want to know, is where you got the beads?" George inquired. "They sound magical almost." He gave Fred a look.
"What? Would that be bad?" Scarlet looked between the two.
"Well.." Fred took a deep breath, "If your brother really had, you know, died and came back, and those beads are magical, they could be filled with dark magic. Which is very bad."
