Thomas stood at the top of a case of marble stairs above a newfound thief. Whom of which scurried to get out. "Guards, seize him!" His voice boomed, the armored knights quickly appearing to capture the stranger. He put up a small fight as he was handled but soon gave in at the sight of the many knights.
Tom sighed as he watched the act go down, brushing his blue tunic lightly. That's the second time a thief has been caught this month!
Quickly after the act, his prince rushed into the throne room. His red cape trimmed with light grey flowing with grace through the air, and his golden crown glimmered with the help of a few red jewels inside. "Thomas what's going on?" He asked urgently, striding up the marble steps to a half point, his caramel hair complementing the fine stone walls of the castle.
"Another thief. He was found venturing near the dungeons with gold tucked in his satchel." Tom spat as he walked downward to meet his prince. They stood and watched momentarily as the guards took the robber away.
"That's twice this month, it's getting out of hand!" He growled, his accent tarnishing the words with venom.
"Well noticed my prince." Tom retorted sarcastically, Tord giving his second in command a glare of annoyance with his strikingly silver eyes.
The air began to feel heavy and awkward as the two finally took notice that they were alone. Prince Tord sighed, breaking the ice. "Well, I've got some things to tend to Thomas, so if you'll excuse me-" he said, making his way upward, only to be stopped by his friend's voice. "Prince Tord, wait a moment." Tom said hastily, locking eyes with the Norwegian as he turned to meet his voids.
"About yesterday... I-" he was cut off, "Leave it Thomas. We need not to bring that up." The Brit looked down in slight frustration, struggling to find words. Before he knew it however, his prince was gone.
With a growl he plopped himself down on the marble staircase, head prompted on his hands. He let his mind wander for a brief moment, back to the fight he and his friend had the day before.

FLASHBACK

Tom stood on top of one of the many towers of the castle, he watched the horizon violently, almost expecting something or someone to come over the mountains and attack. But yet, nothing came.
It was just about dusk in the kingdom and the sky was painted with a variety of oranges, purples, and all the between, decorated with many clouds and the farewell of the sun.
The Brit breathed out silently, calming his senses as he recollects the day... and for a moment his guard was down, he was relaxed.
"Hello Thomas." Came a familiar voice, Tom jumped at once, turning his head to the figure. It was no one else but the prince. "Oh, hello prince Tord." A hint of annoyance was noticeable in the Norwegian man. "Tom, I told you to just call me by my name when we're alone.." Tom smiled lightly, "Of course, Tord."
Tord walked up beside the other an watched the sky in an awkward silence, it was only broken when Tord took in a breath and began a conversation. "Hey Tom, I've been thinking... I want to expand the kingdom." That phrase could mean one of two things, and Tom was desperately afraid of one of them.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you mean." He claimed. Already knowing what was to come. "I believe you know exactly what that means. I want to get wed with the princess of our neighbor kingdom."
Immediately Tom felt multiple arrows shoot him through the heart... but of course he knew this was to come eventually. "But Tord, you can't. Do you know how many times we've caught their people stealing from us?" Tord nodded, I'm well aware Thomas, and that's why we should do it, to stop the chaos going on between us." Tom shook his head, getting worked up for multiple reasons. "My prince I'm afraid you don't understand- there's so many flaws seeping in this idea!" He exclaimed.
Tord scoffed, "An example?" He requested, a bit temperamental. Tom found himself speechless for multiple moments as he tried to find his words. "Have you even met that kingdom's heir? Surely you can't-" Tord cut him short, "Only on occasion, but we're scheduled for dinner in a few few nights... and I expect you to be as kind to her as you are to me." He said.
"But- Tord I-" the prince snapped, his patience was coming to an end, "But nothing Thomas! Dinner is happening wether you like it or not, this isn't your decision!" Tom stood back as his friend exploded. Feeling an immediate emptiness.
He looked out upon the kingdom once more, daring not to look at the prince. Tord studied him for a moment before giving a huff and turning towards the trapdoor upon the ground. That of which led down a staircase back to the main castle.
Tom leaned on the stone waist high wall, thinking as he watched the stars come up.
