As the lunchtime bell started ringing at St Joseph's High in London, Alyssa Goodwell was finally relieved from her History class, and into the war zone that was the school corridors. She quietly packed up her books, and placing them in her black shoulder bag she made her way out of the classroom. In the war like corridors, Alyssa slowly manoeuvred her way to her locker on the other side of the school, keeping her head down the entire time. The people at this school didn't particularly like her, and she was in no mood to argue with anyone.
Taking the scenic route, she walked through the school grounds shivering slightly in the cold February weather. Wishing she had brought her scarf to class, she looked around at all the people enjoying the little sun that was peeking timidly through the grey cumulus clouds up above. It was going to rain; that much was obvious. When? Alyssa didn't know. She just hoped it wasn't when she was walking home from school. God knows how her mother would react to Alyssa dripping water onto her "new floorboards".
Remembering back to the "conversation" she had had with her mother that morning, she involuntarily flinched, and shuddered at the thought of walking in though the door, dripping wet.

"Get up you fucking lazy ass. You're gonna be late to school!" Alyssa had been waken up to the daily alarm that is her "mother" screaming at her.
"I don't care." She muttered to herself. Another night had passed with Alyssa tossing back and forth in her bed, unable to find a comfortable spot.
Slowly getting out of it, Alyssa hurriedly made her way across the freezing cold cement ground in the basement, and made her way up the creaky steps leading into the actual house part of the house.
She loved the basement, but not when it was freezing.
"It's going to rain today, and I swear to god, if you come home dripping water over my new floorboards, I will kick you out of the house." Alyssa's "mother" glared at her, and then pointed to the door. "Leave bitch."

Alyssa didn't have to wait long to gain access to her locker. Crouching down, she put her combo in and shoved her books into it. She pulled out an apple and her scarf, she tied the scarf around her neck, and started walking towards her tree.
This tree was where she had spent a majority of her lunchtimes since starting at St Joseph's earlier this year. It was a leafy willow, and she enjoyed hiding behind the long, flowing branches of the giant tree that hid her from all her peers sitting in groups clustered around the benches in their little cliques, enjoying the last of the little bit of sun they would be getting for a while.
Ducking under the long, flowy branches, Alyssa settled herself down at the base of the tree, shivering, and took a big bite out of her apple. Flipping through her iPod music library, she came across the song that had been stuck in her head all morning.
"I tear myself open, I sew myself shut..."
Closing her eyes, she let "Scars" by Papa Roach play quietly in the background, as she was finally able to relax for the first time all day. It was only Monday, and she had a long week ahead of her.
