Chapter 1

I'm running. I'm running in the forest. Leaves and twigs crunching under my feet. The smell of dirt and New England autumn fill my nostrils.

But then there is something else. Metal?

No it was the smell of blood. And it was still fresh.

I then realize why I am running. It was to get away. But from what? The energy coming off of it was old and strange,  something I haven't came across.

As I turn my head to see what it was it grabs me and drags me by my hair. And throws me into something hard, knocking the wind out of me.Thats when I wake up in a cold sweat, out of breath, and on the floor.

Luckily, I didn't wake up my roommate Karen again. This is the third time this month I have had this dream. Each time revealing something new. The smell of blood was new but everything else was the same. Including the ending.

I look up at the clock on my nightstand and see that it was 5:30. I still had time to get my shower done before Karen woke up and we head over to our classes.

I let the cool water pour ovef me before I got out and got dressed in my usual Tuesday getup. A pair of black skinny jeans and a band t-shirt. This week it was a white and grey "Bring Me The Horizon" shirt. I then ran the blow dryer throw my medium length light brown hair and putting it up and a high ponytail.

I went across the bathroom to grap my make-up bag and and applied some black eyeliner and mascara.

Walking out of the bathroom and into the bedroom I find a fully awoken Karen, dressed, on her computer checking the schools gossip page.

"Good morning!" I say to her.

"Good morning. Why were you up so early? Was it that dream again?"

" Yes. It was."

She left it at that. She knew I didn't want to talk about, and I respected her for that. Not only was she my roommate, and a siren, but she is also my best friend and knows when I want to talk and when I dont.

"We should probably go and get some food from the cafeteria before the first bell rings", I tell her.

She turns her computer off and we rush out the door to get breakfast.
