There's darkness everywhere I look. I search and search for just a shred of light to find my way out of this place of nothingness but there's none to be found. I can't move my arms or legs because they are tied down by what feels like rope. I try to call out for help but my mouth has been strapped shut with tape, preventing me from doing so. I hear footsteps above me, pacing back and forth then some indistinct voices talking. I try to concentrate on what they are saying but I can't seem to be able to. I hear a shout then a door being slammed shut and someone running down steps, which is close to where I'm at. My heart starts pounding so hard that I'm afraid it's going to burst out of my chest. A light soon flickers on illuminating the once dark room, my eyes soon adjust and that's when I see

"Reilly!"

Startled, my hands freeze, hovering over my keyboard of my laptop. I look over to the driver's side of the car at my mother who looks irritated. I clear my throat, "What?"

"Do you know how many times I yelled your name just now to get your attention away from that computer of yours?"

I shrug my shoulders and reply, "Once."

She arches her eyebrow and responds, "Try five" shaking her head, "I swear sometimes I feel like your fingers are permanently attached to that thing."

"Sorry. I guess I just got too involved in this new story that I started writing."

"It's fine. But put it away for now, we are almost there. When we get there it's all hands on deck because there is a lot to get done."

I nod my head. I look out my window as we pass the sign to where I would now call home. 'WELCOME TO Riverdale THE TOWN WITH PEP!'

We soon pull into a driveway of our new home. It looks to be a two-story, bricked, with a wrapped porch deck, red door and multiple windows.

"Reilly! C'mon let's start bringing boxes in so we can get unpacked," mom yells from the back of the car.

I take a deep breath, grab my laptop and step out of the car. I take in the view around me, multiple houses line up through the whole block. I walk over to the trunk and pick up a couple of boxes. Let's get this over with.

"Mom! I'm going out."

"Okay. Don't stay out too late!"

"Alright." I walk out the door and start walking. It was ten o'clock and after unloading all of our things I was starving and I saw on our way in a diner not too far away.

I finally get to the diner called,'Pop's Chock'Lit Shoppe'. I push through the door, a bell ringing as I do so. I look around and spot an empty booth towards the back and head towards it. I sit down and make myself comfortable and pull out my laptop. An older man makes his way over to me and says, "Welcome to Pop's. You must be new here."

"Yes. My mother and I just moved here today," I say smoothly.

The man smiles. "Well welcome to Riverdale. Can I get you something?"

"Could I get a hamburger, a side of fries and a strawberry milkshake please?"

He nods his head. "I'll put your order in and it should be out soon."

I nod my head, smiling, "Thank you."

He turns around to start helping another customer. I turn my attention back to my laptop and continue writing my new story. I have no idea where this story came from but it just popped in my head almost out of nowhere. It might be strange but I can almost see the things I was writing about but it doesn't feel like it's happening to me but to someone else.

I'm about another page in when I feel as if someone is watching me. I look up from my screen and see this guy a booth away from me. Also on his laptop typing away. From what I can see he has dark hair that's peaking out from under his peculiar beanie that's shaped like it's a crown. His ocean blue eyes skim across the screen then stop and flicker up making eye contact with my boring brown eyes. I don't really want to look away but I know if I don't I'm going to look like a creep. I tear my eyes away from his and redirect them to my screen.

I start reading what I wrote when someone sits down in the seat across from me. I look up and see the boy with the crown beanie. I start picking at my fingers, nervous habit I've picked up over the years. Luckily for me, my laptop was acting as my shield, (as it usually does) stopping him from seeing what I was doing.

He just kept looking at me which I am not at all accustom too and it didn't seem he was going to break the tension any time soon, so I decided to break it for him.
"Umm...hello."

He blinked. "Sorry. I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable. I just wanted to meet another fellow writer, there's not a lot of us nowadays."

"How do you know I'm a writer?"

A smirk makes an appearance. "Let's call it a hunch."

"Are you a detective or something? You know, I could've been emailing or updating one of my social media accounts."

Shaking his head, he looks at the table then back at me. "I like to think of myself as a sleuth in the making but that's just something I picked up recently. No, I'm a writer through and through. And you newbie, you're a writer. Now I don't know why you would have a problem admitting that to me but, hey I don't judge."

"What's your name?" I ask, curious to know who this person is.

"What's yours?" he fires back.

"Uh. I-I'm -"

"Jughead," the gentleman who took my order, approaches us. "Are you bothering the newcomer?"

Rolling his eyes he responds, "Relax Pops. Just getting to know...well I don't know her name because someone interrupted her from doing so."

Pops raises his hands up in surrender. "My bad. Just wanted to give the lady her order so she didn't starve," he turns to look at me and continues, "my deepest apologies miss."

I smile, "It's not a problem, Pops."

Pop smiles and turns to go back to the kitchen. I look back over to Jughead who looks at me and shakes his head. "So Jughead that's an interesting name you got there. Can I get a last name?"

He smiles but then his phone vibrates on the table and he picks it up. His eyebrows narrow and his forehead creases as he reads what I'm assuming is a text. He quickly types back a response then looks back to me. "Sorry newbie but the rest of the introductions will have to resume later. I have to go but I'll see you around."

He quickly stands up and grabs his bag. Before he walks out the door I call after him, "I'm holding you to that."

He looks over his shoulder and replies, "Good because I don't intend on calling you newbie forever," he finishes, winking at me in the process as he disappears out the door.

As weird as it may sound, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the introduction with a guy name, Jughead. I'm sure it's just as interesting as his name; which kind of suits him.
