The darkness spread, covering me as the moon sat in the middle of the sky. It had been a long day at work. They nearly caught on...

'Dear, it's better roll up your sleeves when handling the flowers. Because then you will not get dirt on your arms..'

'Oh, no, it's alright. I need to wash my jumper anyway...'  She looks at me, worry in her eyes. Oh please don't see it. Please don't see my pain.

I hope she doesn't remember. Please don't remember.

"Come here!" I hear Mother screech from down the path. "What took you so long?! We were waiting!"

I hurry along to the front of our house, to see Mother standing outside. "S-sorry... I was working-"

"Where is your payment?" She hisses, slamming open the front door and walking through. I follow her and take out the money I earned for the day.

"Here." I hold it out to her. She quickly swipes it, glaring at it within her hands. Before looking at me and glaring even more.

"Where is she?" Mother frowns. "You didn't give her money to run away, DID YOU?!"

HIT. She punched me... "N-no... You mean... Chara's gone?"

"YES. THAT FUCKING MONSTER HAS GONE." She pulls my hair, throwing me down to the ground. "It's just you and me now.." She pulls my hair up, forcing me to look at her as she grins evilly. She punches me again, and again

and again

and again... Then she stops to breathe

"Are.. You-" I go to ask if she's okay...

"DID I SAY YOU COULD SPEAK?!" She screams, her voice breaking slightly.

I stay quiet. She kicks my side, not as hard as her punches. So she was still...

She turns to go into her bedroom, leaving me there to bleed from my face and nose. I go to the washroom, to clean myself up. I'll have to wait till she's asleep... So I can go and find Chara. She won't let me leave otherwise. I look at my now-swollen face... I'll have to wash it and hope the swelling goes down before Father gets home...

After standing the sink for a while, trying to make the swelling go down, it finally does - sorta. My cheekbone really hurts... I hurry to my bedroom, down stairs and look around for anything.

I walk over to Chara's bed, looking under the broken wooden bed to see her bag and favourite belongings were gone. Her ribbon, her knife to protect herself with... her books.

She ran away. And left me...

I wait till I hear them stop. They go to sleep after enjoying their night together...

I wait twenty minutes before picking my bag up, grabbing my shoes and shoving them on and heading for the door. I managed to swipe the keys from Father's case so I can leave. I unlock the door as quietly as I can-

RATTLE.

I dropped the keys, I quickly shove them into the lock - "What the fuck?!" Father screams. They'll catch me. I turn the key quickly and run out the house. I hear the door getting slammed from the end of the street. I turn to see if he's chasing me. This time he isn't. They don't care. I wish the would sometimes. Actually care, actually want us...

Chara. Chara is the only one who has ever wanted me.. I walk towards our favourite spot on Mountain Ebott. Looking around near our tent, I don't see her anywhere. I shine my torch into the tent. To see a drawing of Chara and I. I flip it over to see a letter.
