First off, I want you to know I don't hate TØP, I strongly (very strongly) dislike them. That being said, most 'emos' today like TØP, (not that there is anything wrong with that) but
'emos' today aren't really emo. I'll give you a few examples;

1) Emo means emotional, so how can you been emo when you're wearing flower crowns and saying that TØP made you happy again. I repeat, emo means emotional, so how are you emo if you're happy? (My sister's boyfriend said emos today are wanna be hippies.)

2)Most emos today probably don't know who Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Rise Against, A Day To Remember, and Cannibal Corpse, etc is. They could know who they are but most do not. Most only know who the emo trinty (Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and My Chemical Romance) is and it's really getting on my nerves.

3) Aesthetics. These edits are made to where it's pink and bright and the person in the picture is wearing a flower crown. I understand if you want to put Hannibal Lector in an aesthetic because he's scary and kills people, but people who aren't scary and look adorable as they are (ex; Gerard Way) don't need aesthetic because that's just really overdoing it.

4) Tumblr. I really dislike Tumblr for multiple reasons, Social Justice Warriors, the self harm and self diagnosis blog, and the whole discussions about gender and race. Self diagnosis gets on my nerves because if 20 kids in my school are faking depprison, how can you tell if someone actually has depprison? Gender is a hard thing to get by, women have estrogen and men have testosterone. Everyone begins out as a girl (which is why men have nipples, I guess) and when the body decides if it is a boy, sometimes they'll still have estrogen, so when they come out they'll think they're a girl. I don't know how Female to Male happens, but it's really hard to talk about genders without there being some sort of argument. Honestly, can't we all just be civilised instead of shouting?

So, in my eyes, emo today doesn't mean emo, because emo means emotional and most emos today don't act emotional but instead happy.
