Chapter 8

I kept running intel I got to my house and ran in, slamming the door shut

"Grandma?"

I said but my voice echoed

I walked towards my grandmothers room still calling her name over and over

"Grandma?"

I said one last time before opening the door

I opened it slowly, the door creaked.

I saw my grandmother laying in her bed, it looked like she was sleeping

"G-Grandma?"

I said one last time as I walked up to her bed.

I tapped her shoulder... no response.

I shook her, her body was cold and she didn't move

"Grandma?!"

I screamed.

After a few minutes of denial, I knew my grandmother had passed.

I fell to the floor am began to cry hard.

Not soon after I heard the front door open

"Maryanne?"

I heard masky say

I didn't respond. just cried more.

Masky ran in

"Are you okay!?"

I kept crying. he saw my grandmother in her bed, lifeless and not breathing.

"Oh dear..."

Masky said softly

He kneeled down next to me and wrapped his arms around me.

I buried my face into his shirt and cried more.

After a while, masky called the ambulance and my grandmother was taken away. She died from natural causes.

I sat in my room for a while staring at the floor while I watched my tears fall.

Masky came in and sat next to me

"It'll be alright.."

I shook my head

"She was the last one that actually cares about me.. That made me feel wanted.. That actually felt safe around me.. She never hurt me and I-I never hurt her.."

More tears fell and Masky rubbed my back to comfort me

"What about me? I care about you. I want you around me. I feel safe around you and I promise on my life that I will never hurt you. You mean too much to me."

I looked up at him and tears began to stop

"D-Do you really mean it?"

He looked back at me and smiled lightly

"With all my heart."

He then leaned in and kissed me to make sure it was true.

The kiss felt like it lasted forever.

He pulled back and twitched some while staring at the wall

"Masky?"

I said placing my hand on his shoulder. He jumped some then looked over at me

"Huh? what?"

I looked at him, confused

"Are you okay? you kind of zoned out."
