I abruptly woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm clock dinging on my bedside table. I shot up and was immediately hit by the too bright morning sun, I covered my eyes and flopped back down again . I was so tired, I hardly got a wink of sleep last night. Stupid insomnia.Oh yeah, today's Monday and I have school I thought to myself.
Ugh another day of pure torture!
My alarm clock had fallen off the table and was now having a seizure on the floor.
I awkwardly slipped of my warm, comfy, heavenly bed (which is practically where I live) and reached out to turn it off.
Much better.
I just lay there on the floor for another 30 seconds before having to physically get up onto my two wobbly legs to get ready for school.
I realised I was a little bit late, so I quickly ran my comb through my brown curls, quickly got changed and headed to the kitchen.
I poured milk into a bowl full of lucky charms (my favourite btw) and scoffed it up. My mum was at the stove making scrambled eggs and humming to what sounded like an 80's song. And my younger twin brothers were fighting over the bathroom in the hallway. After I was all done, I grabbed my book bag and headed out the door. "Bye sweetie! Have a good day, love you!" My mum called after me. "Bye mum!"
Hard to believe that it was going to be a long time 'till I would say that to my mother.I was waiting for my bus driver Mr. Smith to come speeding around the corner as always.
But something was taking a little longer than it usually did.
After what seemed like forever, the bus's loud noise ripped me out of my day dream. Huh weird it was a different bus. But it had to be mine because it had the same numbers on the display.
As the bus came closer I saw that the driver wasn't Mr. Smith as usual. It was a lady about in her 50's.
Super weird.
The bus halted and the door slid open.
The lady smiled. It was a friendly smile. Still, something about this seemed wrong but I couldn't put my finger around it. I showed my bus pass as I stepped inside. "Hi" I said not exactly knowing what to say. She nodded " good morning dear".
" Where's Mr. Smith? 'Cause we've never had a different bus driver befo-"
"Oh he's just taking the day off".
She answered, again, with another smile. I padded down to the middle of the bus and took a seat by the window.
The bus drove on over the bumpy countryside hills to the next town.
We arrived at the next stop and that cute guy stepped inside. His name was Grayson and ever since primary school I have had a crush on him. He had caramel blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes to die for. Occasionally, he would look around maybe looking were I was sitting but we never talked.
But it secretly made me go all fuzzy in my tummy when we did make eye contact. He went to the very back of the bus like he always did and slumped on to the seat and breathed out.
He breathed!
Stop,I told myself off in my head. He's a human-being as well. Of course he
breaths!Since the way to school was so long I decided to take a little snooze just to close my eyes a little bit. I leaned my head against the back of my seat.
I felt the bus still zipping across the roads. Even with my eyes closed I knew exactly where we were 'cause I knew the way off by heart.
But I soon got so tired that my body decided to fall asleep.
I never would have guessed what happened next.I slowly opened my eyes. I felt kinda dizzy and my ears hurt. You know, that feeling you get when your flying in an aeroplane. I looked out the window the sun looked like a big ball of butter swimming on top of the clouds.
Wait a sec I thought. The clouds seem so close... what the...
I pressed my face against the window and peered down.
WHAT?!!
The bus legitimately turned into a plane!!
On either side were red wings that stretched out about 4 meters.
"Aaaaaaaah!" At this particular moment I didn't care about anything else, like for instance that my crush was sitting 5 rows back from me and I had just screamed so loudly that it probably reached Australia. I hugged my legs tightly to my chest and rocked back and forth like I was eccentric and prayed that this wasn't real. It wasn't possible. I was dreaming. I had to be.
I looked back and saw that Grayson was still fast asleep with his headphones on.
How could he possibly sleep through this?!
Suddenly the bus-plane dropped and I could feel it starting to land.
I still couldn't believe this whole thing was happening. My left arm was already red for me pinching it.
The bus glided down through the clouds.
This was all getting to much for me!
I felt really light headed like I was going to black out any second now.
My vision went blurry, and everything around me starting swimming. Then all I saw was pitch blackness.
