Christmas in July (Part 2)

"Baby?"

"Yah. Hajima, Bam." Yugyeom nervously exchanges looks with his closest friend. My thoughts start running off in various directions, half of them worrying that I was misunderstanding all along and that Yugyeom was actually in a relationship with Baby, Bambam's younger sister.

I was never good at keeping my thoughts and my fear must have showed on my face as Yugyeom suddenly takes my hand, running slow circles at the back of it with his thumb. He knew that I was insecure of Bambam's sister because she was confident and fashionable, plus lucky enough to be the sister of her bias' best friend.

"Bam, stop it," Yugyeom turns towards me, little wrinkles forming between his eyebrows as his nose scrunches up in concentration. "Stop thinking about anything, okay? Whatever you're thinking, saenggak hajima. It's not in any way related to Baby, I promise."

I look at Yugyeom and fight the urge to reach over and smoothen out the wrinkles, afraid that he'll pull away if I do. I might have been burdening him all this time, and he was just too nice to say that he didn't like me back.

I gather up my courage and try to smile calmly as I say, "What is it?"

Grinning, Bambam stands from the couch and strides towards my apartment door. He pauses with his hand on the knob and calls back to us, "Geokjeongma. Don't worry, I was just kidding about Baby. As Yugyeom said, she has nothing to do with what he needs to tell you. I promise."

Staying silent, I watch Yugyeom drop his head and look at anything but me. I wait for him to speak, knowing that he won't say anything until his ears stop turning into a bright shade of red.

With my hand still in his, I pull him to sit on the couch but he doesn't budge. Instead, he pulls me into a hug. Confused, I hug him back lightly and pull away.

"Gyeom-ah, what is it? I'm getting worried. Is there something wrong?"

"Ani-ya," he replies, before leaning down and whispering in my ear, "your bedroom."

"Wait, what?"

"Bedroom."

"Wait, I don't think now's the time to do this?" Now, I am getting more confused, and starting to get flustered at what he is saying. "I missed you, Yugyeom, but what are you trying to do?"

I stop when I see his face light up with the realization that we aren't thinking about the same thing.

"Ah! No, no! It's nothing like that!" He flushes a dark shade of red again as he fans the air with his hand, covering his mouth with the other. "No, I didn't mean that! I meant that I placed the stuff I was going to give you in your bedroom!"

I also flush a dark shade of red and my eyes widen when I realize the misunderstanding.

There is a knock on my apartment door and I hear Bambam shout, "Could you please hurry up, Yugyeom? Seriously, it's just a few sentences. It's really hot out here so I'd appreciate if you'd go a little faster? Oh and lock the door if you're gonna be frisky!"

Yugyeom and I look at each other and loosen up, laughing at Bambam's outburst from outside the apartment.

He takes my hand and pulls me resolutely, pushing me gently into the bedroom. I freeze when I see a bag full of things from all over the world lying on my bed. I am an avid traveler myself and we love buying small trinkets that make us think of each other. It is a sweet gesture since I know he was able to find the time to buy these despite a busy schedule.
