Chapter 3

“Angel,” I waved her over but she just shook her head and kept walking.

“Well, Angel’s pissed off. What you do, prince cum wot?”Stunned at Alice’s remark, I spazzed a little and my voice cracked.

“Me? I did nothing. I do whatever it takes to keep her. Well, at least try.” What if it was me, what if I moved too fast at lunch. Mid-rant, Alice slapped my face with both paws and squished my cheeks together.

“Shush yo face, you’re wonderful and Angel sees that. Ya’ll are destined I feel it in my rump.” I couldn’t help but giggle, at her and roll my eyes wiggling my face back so my cheeks would be free.

“Come on Alice, we can’t miss the meet or else dad will kill me.” Alice rolled her eyes and rushed ahead to the parking lot to my truck.

Putting the truck in park in the field, my chest stung with tension. The pack was gathered earlier.

“Great,” I mumbled knowing dad was already glaring within the crowd of shifters. Alice nudged me and shared a hopeful smile.

“Nice to finally have you, Drake.” John, one of dad’s good friends. I glared. Everyone knew I hated him, my father, and half his pack.

“Hey, skank-lover! Is that a way to look at your elders?” All the muscles in my body tensed and I glared deadly into the body of whose voice I despised.

Carl.

“We all know you choose the suckers over us. Why’d you even come?”

What happened next surprised the hell out of me. My father stood between me and the rest of the pack and growled the most ferocious growl I’ve ever heard.

“Shut the fuck up,” He demanded. “This is my fucking son, and who he loves is his choice. The suckers are different but I won’t stand for this shit. You don’t like our choices, get the fuck out.” I was dumb founded; he just stood up for me.

I stood on the side for the rest of the night. Just watching the actions. Alice stayed close and would change occasionally into a small precious kitten and pounce on my head. Little brat’s been doing that ever since her first change.

I smiled remembering those days. Everything was so chill, dad wasn’t stressed, mom was alive, there wasn’t a pack and Alice and I were free to be kids. Alice would throw yarn at me and we would change into kittens and play for hours. Mom would cook and watch us, she was so pretty. Dad truly loved her. Dad’s not bad, just upset. Just with the grief of her loss. He’s lost his wife.

A strong grip shook me; I had fallen asleep remembering all that was.

“Come on you two tigers. Meet’s over and we are going somewhere,” This intrigued me. Dad was way off today. He helped us pack up and told me to follow his truck. Alice and I kept exchanging weird looks. Everything was put up and we went to our trucks. Then dad did a strange thing. He came up to my rolled down window.

“I love you guys,” He said looking at us then twisted and walked back to his truck. Alice stared at me, “Dad’s going to kill us.” I laughed uneasy.”I hope not.”
