It was four days after Taehyung had heard the catastrophic news about his dismissal from the group and there still was no update on the final ultimatum from the company. You decided to take the week off from work to stay with your boyfriend. You needed this as much as he did. Each ticking moment unbriefed of Taehyung's fate felt like you were being drowned, and regardless of how hard you tried to swim up, or how much you trashed your arms and legs about, your body refused to move an inch closer to the surface of the dark water.

The past four days were spent in fear and suspense. A chance still remained that Taehyung would remain in the group with the boys. You had to hold on to that sliver of hope. The two of you always kept a phone at arm's reach; waiting for BigHit to call and get this shit show over with. Every morning you would wake up either in Tae's arms or with him snuggled up against you so close that your noses touched. This morning, the latter was being performed. You opened your eyes and proceeded to analyze his soft cheeks, slightly parted pink lips, and long eyelashes. He was breathing at a slow pace and you could feel the warmth of his body under the insulating covers of the bed. His honey-brown hair was ruffled and messy yet seemed so perfectly styled, even in his slumber. He was a literal angel. A glowing, upbeat angel that didn't deserve any of this. He worked his ass off every day and always had a beaming grin on his face. As you scanned his features, you noticed the tear stains on his cheeks. Your heart did the thing where it felt like it was breaking again. It was breaking a lot recently. You tried to wipe the tears away and he stirred in his sleep. Yawning, he opened his puffy eyes and held your hands to his face. He kissed each of your fingertips and ran his fingers through your tangled hair. It started to get toasty under the covers and your stomach rumbled. You both awoke from the fluffy trance you were in and sat up on the bed. Slipping into your robe, you shuffled your way from the bedroom into the kitchen. The floor tiles were chilly against your bare feet. You never wore socks to bed as Taehyung's mom always preached that wearing socks to bed made you shorter. You proceeded to brew coffee and turn on the stove to make waffles. Taehyung trudged inside the kitchen and hugged you from behind, wrapping his arms around your waist. He burrowed his head into the crook of your neck and groggily said, "goooood mornnnning, kitten." You turned around to kiss him on the forehead and sent him away to sit on a bar stool by the kitchen island.

"Helloooo angel! Did you rest well last night? It was kind of chilly," you said as you returned to assembling breakfast. It came to your attention that being cheerful usually helped to put him in a brighter mood.

"I slept better last night. I only woke up twice but seeing you snoozing so adorably beside me put me right back to sleep."

God, you could've just "adorably" squeezed him to death right now. He was always the mushiest in the morning.

You brought the golden waffles and steaming coffee over to the island and Taehyung went to the pantry to get syrup. He padded back and squirted an excessive amount of syrup on his waffles until they were practically soaked in the sweet nectar. You took the bottle and poured some syrup (substantially less) on your own waffles and sipped your coffee. You stayed silent for a few minutes while devouring breakfast. When both plates were licked clean, Taehyung hastily grabbed your hands and smacked them against your forehead.
