Where should i start?
Hmm.., okay. It begin in Falaise,Calvados. 21 August, 1944. Some people must have known that day, the day when Allied forces forms a pocket-like formation from Falaise to Chambois that encircled and trapped 50.000 germans inside. Its the result the Allied forces offensive at Normandy Beach in 6 June, 1944. Its the part of the Operation Overlord. The order to retreat was obviously the only right thing to do at that time. However, the arrogants of man are always beyond the boundary. The Führer resist to give the order to ensure the survival of his own army, he give the words to "Stand and fight " againts the overwhelming enemy forces.
That mad decision is a real example of the arrogants of man, resulting in the death of thousands of men. The reek stenchs caused by countless of dead bodies scattered in the valley, from humans to animals. Buildings were destroyed, lands are poisoned for years, and the roads were covered by the death and broken machinery. As the Allied advanced they had to go through thousands of lifeless soldiers, the strnch of old corpses making them retch. The possibility to a second disaster caused by the plague carried by the number of dead bodies escalated quickly. The horrors of war remained forever in the mind of those who survived this hell. Both sides takes this mental damage to the very core.
This is not about the war, but this is about what it could create in the future. "God has abandon us", taken from a diary of one of the german soldier that suvived from that hell. Yes, i am going to tell you the story from a different perspective. This is the version from the loser. " Nothing could save us from them. If God is exist, then it must have choose to abandon us. The Third Reich will never be achieved, because we underestimated them, and now we must pay for our mistakes."
That is a little words from his diary. And from that i have learned that, my grandfather was very sober for what he and his comrades done in war, and he deserve that.
I am Albert von Reinhertz, and i'm here to tell you the stories of my life and three things that will change it forever, and this is not just about me. Its about all of you.
