Niall's funeral was small and gloomy. It consisted of him, Niall's family, and a couple of friends. They all agreed to wear white, since Niall's family claimed that Niall was bright and bubbly, and black was just too depressing. At first, Louis just stood there, reminiscing the moments he and Niall shared. Then he just started crying and he couldn't hold himself together. Niall's mum, Maura, had asked Louis to make a speech, but Louis found himself breaking before he even started. This resulted to Louis running away and going home. He merely wished Niall happiness and peace, then he fled. Niall was gone. He accepted it, but he was now alone. He had no one.

It's amazing how death can make you feel things you're never supposed to feel. Louis willed himself to be numb, to not feel, to not hurt. But whatever he does, the pain just doesn't stop.

Louis gathered all his energy just to stand up and walk. He was exhausted out of wit and at the moment, he just wanted to disappear. It's been a month since he's seen Niall's body inside his beautiful casket, and until now he still couldn't wrap his mind around it.

Every time he closes his eyes, he could see Niall's face. His dreams consisted of Niall, and it was the same dream that keeps on replaying every time he tries to fall asleep. It's as if Niall was haunting him. As if Niall was making him guiltier because he wasn't there to help him.

But when Louis saw Niall that day, he couldn't believe he was dead. He looked so peaceful. He even had this little smile on his face, it looked as if he was happy because he was finally free. His skin was pale, but it was glowing. If it weren't for the fact that Niall wasn't breathing, Louis would've thought that he was just sleeping.

Louis shook off the depressing image. He went straight to his bathroom and washed his face. Louis looked at the mirror, and he didn't see Louis Tomlinson at all. All he saw was a guy who was lost. He saw a guy that looked utterly defeated and completely exhausted. He was currently looking at a guy with barely a life in his eyes, staring right at him, as if blaming him for everything that's happened.

Louis entire body trembled. A loud wail emitted from his dry, cracked lips, his mind was blank, and he was finally numb. He was too numb that he didn't feel the ache of his heart. Too numb that he didn't feel his fist collide into the mirror, shattering the glass and breaking the gaze of his own reflection. Too numb that he didn't feel the glass burying into his fingers, and the shooting pain from his fist. He felt dead. He's been feeling dead for so long that the sight of blood made him feel alive.

He was numb, but he was alive.

Louis forced himself to not think of his dead best friend. He made his way into his shower, stripping off his clothes, and stood under the cold spray of the water. He felt chills on his spine as the freezing water cascaded on his back, but he didn't mind it. He stood there long enough for his teeth to start chattering and his fingers to feel like ice. And maybe Louis' tears blended with the flowing water, maybe it didn't.

Louis found himself walking towards the Police Station. Officer Liam Payne had called him a few minutes ago, telling him that he had to drop by the station ASAP. And here he was.

There was a flutter of hope in Louis' heart, because maybe the Police had found Niall's killer. Though he told himself to not get his hopes up.
