Happy Reading!Bo stirred underneath the covers, only half-asleep. She didn't know what came over her, but she knew it was like a wave of sleepiness after she had eaten her smore. Maybe food just makes me tired, she thought to herself. It was extremely hot in the room despite the cold winter air outside so she figured it was safe to wear her red and white striped night shorts and a baseball tee.
She felt herself doze off but awoke once again after what only felt like five minutes. Checking the time on the clock, she realized she had been out for only an hour. This time, she awoke to Sam shouting in the bathroom next to her and the unmistakable voice of her very own Josh Washington. Bo remembered the time before she made it to sleep, and she remembered being surprised with his last remark. Most teenage boys in their senior year don't talk, let along joke, about marrying their girlfriends.
"Alright, Josh! Let's see if you know how to hook up the hot water in your big, fancy lodge!" Bo heard Sam shout from the bathroom. Getting up from her bed, she scratched her head. Bo spotted, from the corner of her eye, a mirror. Looking into it, she noticed her huge bed head. The gnarly mess of curls she always tried to tame and always failed. Deciding it wasn't worth to make a special appearance, Bo walked out of the room.
"Hey, Sam." She greeted her friend who was just about to walk down the grand staircase.
"Bo! Weren't you supposed to be sleeping!" Sam walked back to Bo, ignoring the staircase.
"I was. But someone was shouting in the room next to me." She crossed her arms. Sam gave her a sheepish look.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."
Bo gave a light laugh.
"You're fine. I was just playing around with you." Continuing to laugh, they walked down the stairs together. The muffled speech of the teens on the first floor gave Bo reassurance that there was no more fighting. Mostly because half of the problem was in another cabin.
"Okay, well," The voice of Josh rang out. "I am pretty sure that somewhere in this crazy place, we have...a spirit board."
"Oh, so I leave for the night and ya'll are gonna go ahead and summon demons?" Bo interrupted, shocking the small crowd of Ashley and Chris. Ashley laughed lightly.
"I was just about to say the same thing." She said. Josh looked over at me with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Why aren't you sleeping, Bo?" He asked her.
"Loud mouth, over here." She jerked her head at Sam who playfully shoved Bo in response. "Why? Do you not want me here?"
"No, no. You're fine. I was just wondering."
"Hey, Josh." Sam interceded. " No hot water's kinda major oversight, doncha think?"
"I would agree if I knew what 'oversight' meant." Chris chimed in, making Ashley giggle.
"Yeah, yeah. Just gotta fire up the boiler in the basement." Josh explained, he turned towards Chris and Ashley. "You guys, try and find the spirit board." He returned back to the two of us. I smirked at Josh, finally realizing his plan to set the two awkward lovers together. He returned the small smile. "Bo, you can come with Sam and I to turn on the boiler, if you'd like."
"I don't know. I might stay by the fire. Tune this little ukulele better."
"Alright, just be careful. Love the shorts, by the way." He smirked, looking down at my semi-revealing shorts.
"They're just for sleep, bozo."
"Ouch." Sam gave Josh a friendly pat on the arm. "She got you good."
