When the Heart Cries

     There was a large crash and a swoosh of the screen door leading towards the woods. Father told my older sister to watch me while he and my brother go see what happened. Nervously I asked my sister what was going on, but she told me not to worry, that everything would be fine. After a short while, father and Joshua returned. "Father," my sister Lura spoke, "Where is mother?"  "Father!?!" I cried. "We have to find her!!" "No Boa. Your mother is gone. You must morn and move on. Lura, you are sixteen, you've seen everything your mother does, you must now do these. Joshua, you tend to the farm. Do not take more than you need in town. I though, must go after your mother." We all gave him hugs and he was off in the night.

     "Boa will you please get me some ripe tomatoes from the garden," Lura asked me. I really didn't want to. I wanted to scream, "No you're nothing like mother. You can't just pretend nothing happened!!" But I didn't. I did as she asked and got her the tomatoes. "Lura," I questioningly spoke. "Yes, Boa?" She answered. "May I go to town and get a new book?" "After dinner." She replied.

      I really wasn't going to town to get a book. I was going to see about any other women in the village going missing. "Where do you think you are going?" A village official yelled. "To get a new book from the library, sir" I shakingly spoke. "No women or 'young women' are allowed in town without a father or husband. Any laws that are broken will be punished to the fullest." I kept walking anyways. "Hey! Did you not hear me! You're not allowed to be here by yourself!" He yelled after me. I took of running till I ran into a young man who grabbed me and pulled me into the alley.

     Frantically trying to get away he spoke. "I know where your mother is. My mother has also been taken. But with the strict rules I haven't been able to get out of here." I sat for a minute taking everything in. "We need to stick together if we are going to find our mothers though" I shook my head in agreement. "But we need supplies if we are going to go after them," I said. "Don't worry. I've been planning this for weeks now." He told me. "Oh. My name is Anthony and you are?" "Boa. My name is Boa."

     "Nobody is allowed in town after dark." Another official yelled at us. Anthony and I took off running to the woods. "Get those two!" He hollered again. We ran, so far I couldn't go any further. I fell to the ground. When I woke up I was surrounded by people I didn't know. "Anthony!" I screamed. I couldn't help but notice one thing. "Mother?!?" I asked out. "Boa, I'm here baby, I love you."
