Flashing lights and bright neon signs covered the downtown area of Violet's hometown. Her close friend, Jenn, took long strides towards their destination and Violet struggled to keep up. Her legs were long, but in the high heels she was wearing it made it 14-times-harder to walk as quickly as usual.
"Kaden is so cute, though. Honestly, I wish he'd notice me. I've heard from other girls that he's good with dates— and with things related to the bedroom," Violet shot Jenn a wink as she made conversation. Jenn had recently been obsessed with finding her new "candy," seeing as it had been over a month since her breakup with her boyfriend. She'd said she needed a new start, but really, Violet thought that she just wanted to get back at Tyler for whoring around as soon as he broke it off.
"Yeah, he's great and all, but have you heard about the new teacher? Apparently since Ms. Rhine hurt herself, they finally found a replacement. And according to my research, he's a cutie. I'm just glad to not have to see that damned substitute again. She can go slam her fingertip in a doorway," Jenn growled, showing her hate for the teacher with a simple expression. "Maybe I should set my sights on a more mature flavor. I heard aged things are always better," Jenn said, moving the long black hair out of her face. Violet gave her a look that silently asked what the hell she was talking about. The perks of having long-term friends: you can basically read each other's minds.
"You know. Like cheese, and wine. Get some culture, you swine," she replied playfully as Violet smacked her arm.
"Does that even have anything to do with culture?" She then asked.
"Now it does."
Violet smiled and shook her head, hopping off the curb and into the street. Currently, a small festival for the city was going on. It was set up on a few select streets in the downtown area, and this one happened to be one of them. While it was going on, banners and more light than usual hung from the rooftops, carts and small businesses advertised on the sidelines, and you would walk down the streets freely without worry of being squashed by a tractor-trailer. That had proven to be Violet's favorite part of the festival. Maybe it was the feeling of freedom, or maybe it was something else, but either way, she liked it.
