Honey

Eyes of honey so they seemed

With tears they gleamed

So brown they were, a variety of different hues

How I never wanted to see them blue

They glow with warmth in the sun

And in those nights spent together for fun

They shone with love

Now they looked above

Looking anywhere but at me

For they seemed antsy

It hurt that they didn't want to look

They glistened with tears as my hand shook

Reaching out to touch

But for those eyes it was too much

Those lovely brown eyes which left me dazed

Now with fire they blazed

Pain clear in those brown eyes, those lovely, brown eyes

That could no longer conceal, no longer disguise

And with unshed tears, they turned and ran ahead without so much as a glance back
