Hope's Light (Final Fantasy 13 fanfic)

Yaschas Massif

I explain to Serah, Noel, Raze, and Mog the details of our plan to save the pillar where Fang and Vanille rest, as I walk them to the edge of our research camp. "Don't worry Hope, by the time this is over, Fang and Vanille will be back!" Serah says with a smile. Before I can say anything back, my communicator goes off. "Director? Director, come in!" One of my top researchers speak desperately into the com device. "Sorry, I have to take this. Good luck you four." I say and turn back towards the ruins. "This is the director, what seems to be the problem?" I ask. "We're in the ruins, you'll never believe what we found! You need to come right away!" He says. "Alright I'm on my way." I say and run towards the ruins. Once inside, I find a group of researchers surrounding something on the ground. I catch a glimpse of long White hair, and before I knew it, I'm weaving through the small crowd. A woman lay on the ground unconscious. I kneel at her side and reach my hand out to check her pulse. Once my hand touches her neck, applying pressure, her eyes flinch slightly, as if she was awakening. "Hope..." She mumbles weakly, before a single tear falls from her eye. Mine widen at the mention of my name. "Director...do you know this woman?" My head researcher asks. "No." I say before gently lifting her into my arms. Alyssa comes running into the ruins out of breath. "Director, don't just run off like that!" She says, her hands over her knees as she tries catching her breath. I just shake my head and walk past her. "Director?" The head researcher asks. "I'm taking her out of here. I don't believe waking up in the hall of a strange ruin would be comfortable. We will speak more of this once I bring her to safety." I say and with that, I leave the ruins behind.

In that moment, I learned a new emotion, one that I had not felt before. But a name for it, that was something I could not place just yet.
