There seems to be
A lot of heartbreak
Lying around these days.
*
People collect it in tiny jars,
And display it proudly on their shelves
As if it is a thing of pride.
Some wear it like the most
Magnificent of pearls,
Shiny and sparkling,
Around their neck
That when you see them,
It is the first thing you notice.
Yet others try to escape it
By locking it shut deep inside a poem,
But sometimes it comes wafting out
Passing the heartbreak on
To the readers.
*
Stop wearing a crown of heartbreak;
Don’t convert pain into poetry.
*
Go to the ocean and listen to the music
Swim back to you in waves.
Collect the magic in tiny jars
And shake them loose
On a particularly bad day-
Let them fall all around you
Like confetti,
And drench you in happiness.
*
Dip your toes in music,
And let it travel through your veins
Reaching every nerve-ending
Of your body,
And making it come alive
So that when people look at you
All they can see is the music
Swimming in your eyes
And their whole body starts dancing.
*
Take a plunge into music,
And write poetry with your movements
Everywhere you go.
