Blood dripped down Carolyn's arm; from the relief she could no longer get from anything else. Each carefully placed slice allowed her to breathe a little better. As the blood slowly started to stop flowing she heard footsteps and that familiar laugh, she knew exactly who it was. It was her only friend, Tally. She couldn't come out now and risk letting Tally see her like this, with tear stained cheeks. Tally would think she was stupid and Carolyn couldn't bear losing her one and only friend, so she sat there, praying Tally wouldn't find her.
"Carolyn" Tally said.
Carolyn didn't answer, she just sat there hardly breathing.
"Carolyn, I know your in here, stop hiding from me and come out" Tally said now in a harsher tone
Eventually Tally left. As soon as Carolyn heard the heavy door slam shut she hid her blades deep into her bag, cautiously edged out the toilets, through the school halls and went to join Tally on the field. Carolyn had plastered a smile onto her face so everyone thought she was happy and could not see all the hurt she was holding deep inside herself. No one could tell how much she was dying inside. Carolyn reached Tally just as the bell rang for the end of lunch.
"I'm sorry, do you want to go to the creek after school" Carolyn signed to Tally
"Sure, sounds great" Tally replied
Carolyn only spoke to Tally when no one else was around, the rest of the time she signed everything to her. After that the two girls made there way to class. The last two periods were pure agony, she couldn't wait to the final bell, she could be with her best friend in their special place at the creek and Carolyn could forget about the hell she was living.
