Five long years had drifted by, each day tinged with hope and anticipation for Katherine. Today was supposed to be the culmination of all those years of love and devotion. She meticulously went through her tasks at the modeling agency, her mind constantly drifting to the thought of Kelvin. He, her anchor, her love for the past five years.

"I'm off," she whispered to herself, clutching her bag tightly, her heart racing with excitement. She rushed out to meet Nadine, her loyal confidante, waiting anxiously at Kelvin's workplace. The air buzzed with expectation, with the promise of a future fulfilled.
"Will he...?" Katherine's voice trembled with hope as she searched Nadine's eyes for reassurance.

"He will, darling. He truly adores you," Nadine
replied, her words laced with conviction, trying to calm her friend's racing heart.
In the hushed anticipation of the moment, Katherine and Nadine joined the throng of eager reporters, their eyes fixed on the stage where Kelvin stood, radiant and confident. But as he spoke, a fissure formed in Katherine's heart, tearing her hopes asunder. Kelvin's declaration of love was not for her but for another, for Bella.

Katherine's world shattered in an instant, the pain piercing her soul like a thousand daggers. She staggered back, feeling as though the ground beneath her had crumbled away, leaving her stranded in a void of despair.
"What did I do wrong?" Katherine's voice quivered with anguish, her tear-stained eyes searching desperately for answers.

Nadine's heart broke for her friend, her own eyes clouded with tears. "You did nothing wrong, my dear. You loved with all your heart, but sometimes love blinds us to the truth," she whispered, wrapping her arms around Katherine's trembling form.

Alone in her room later, Katherine crumbled beneath the weight of her shattered dreams. The photographs that once held cherished memories now mocked her, each image a painful reminder of the love she had lost. Tears flowed freely as she grappled with the crushing reality of betrayal and heartbreak.
"This pain is unbearable," Katherine sobbed, her heart rending with every breath.

Nadine, unable to bear seeing her friend in such agony, held her close, her own heart breaking at the sight of Katherine's suffering. "Come away with me, dear Katherine. Let us escape this suffocating agony together," she pleaded, her voice choked with emotion.
In the quiet darkness of the night, as Katherine wrestled with her shattered dreams, she clung to Nadine's comforting presence, finding solace in the unconditional love of a friend.
