Hello, I'm Skylar, most people call me Sky, as it's just an easy nickname. And well, I'm 17 and I practically live alone. Of course I have my dad, but he is basically never home. And my mom passed away when I was 13, so I kinda do things on my own.

I get home extremely late one day after school and slowly unlock the front door to the house me and dad live in on our own. I walk and and turn on the light, to see yet again, dad was home for a short time but left the house a complete and utter mess. I sigh frustrated, and toss my bag onto the couch.

I make my way into the kitchen, and fill a pot with water, and set it on the stove to boil. Then I notice a note and a daisy laying on the counter. I frown confused and pick up the note, it says its from dad;

Hey babygirl, I ran out to get some groceries and a movie. Today's the four anniversary of... You know what. So I figured we could do something enjoyable. I'll be back in an hour.

Love, dad.

I sigh and set the note down then look at the flower. I know he tries, but it doesn't help to be reminded of mom... But it's the effort that counts I guess. I pick the flower up and look it over slowly. Then I fill a tall cup with water and place the flower in it, and set it on the counter. Then I turn off the stove and dump the pot of water out.

I sit on the couch and start working on my homework until dad eventually gets home and hour or so later.

I hear the door opening and look up as dad comes in, he smiles at me. "Hi honey, I'm sorry it took me so long." He apologizes immediately, I smile and tell him it's fine, then I put away my homework.

We then sit on the couch and stuff our faces with pizza and candy while watching some cheesy cartoon until we both passed out.
