Chapter 2:

I looked out my window and saw the rain fall silently... I laughed as I realized that I wasn't the only one crying today. I looked around my house, cigarette smoke everywhere, and groaned. The house was a mess, beer bottles and cigarette boxes littered the floor while dishes of TV dinners stacked up in the sink and the trash. I looked around for trash bags and only found a Stop and Shop bag. As I was cleaning up beer bottles there was a knock on the door so slight that I thought I was hearing things until there was another knock.

I opened the door and my breathe stopped. As I opened it there was a 2 men in suits standing outside...One burly looking one that could probably bend metal till it broke, and the other one a little scrawnier but still with some muscle. His stare though could pierce glass. "Hello Miss.... are you Raven?" The scrawnier one said with a frown. My breathe caught in my throat as he pulled out a paper from his giant suitcase. It was a picture of what looked like a rocket shooting off the ground. I knew it wasn't considering I could see my purple shoe lace blowing around in the wind. "Would you like to explain this Miss Raven?"

"Uh, um..Who are you?" I say bullshitting my way thru the conversation. I totally knew them and they knew it.

"Raven we don't have time for any of this. You know us..we know you, now please explain to us what is going on! I thought the deal was you could live here and be hidden but you had to do your part by staying hidden."

"I am very sorry. I do not know who the hell you are so please go the hell away before I call the police. Thank you, have a nice day dude." I say shutting the door, apparently not fast enough because the

big burly man jumped into the doorway, one hand on the door knob and the other on the doorway.

"Raven, if you don't want to follow the rules we have set there is another option." They both opened the door and marched in, no invitation, no nothing.

"Uh guys? Can you please please go back outside?" I whisper.. backing towards the wall.

"Do you have something to hide Raven Nicoletta Brazil?" He said with a glare, smiling knowing my whole name would effect my anger.

"No. No I do not. It's just that my mother is asleep and she finally went to bed. Please leave my house before I get angry, and you should know by now, me being angry is not okay." I start clamming up from claustrophobia. I think they saw the redness of my face because they backed off a little bit.

"We will back off on one condition, you need to attend school for troubled teens." He smirked.

I frowned and glared at him demonically. "Hey, I know I am a little different, but I am not a troubled fricken teen!"

"Ha ha. This school is just what you need. Trust me, you are a very troubled teen. You'll start tomorrow." And with that he left.

"Who was that Nicolette?" My mom slurred tripping down the stairs. I run up to her and sigh quietly.

"Mom, you need to go to bed. You are sick. You need your rest." I slowly drag her up the stairs and tuck her back in bed. I remove the hair from her forehead and kiss her cheek, once again wondering who the parent was in this house.

As I light my cigarette I grab a trash bag and start loading all the trash up into it. This house will never be clean but I at least try. As I drop the trash bag into the trash can I look at the stars and sigh. The stars are so far away. I look into the house and see the lights off. I should be able to have some time to be alone until she wakes up. I glance back once, put out my cigarette and shoot off towards the stars breathing the smoke of my life out into the world.
