All demons were vain.
When they catch their reflection they can't help but glance and take in themselves.
Damian was no stranger to vanity.
He enjoyed himself and what he looked like no matter what form he took. He liked what he saw and that was a fact.
There was something about looking into Pip's eyes though.
When he's around the boy, he looks back at himself as he stares into the boy's eyes. Pip doesn't see it.
He just looks up just above Damian's head and talks about whatever he wants to talk about.
And Damian just looks into the unsuspecting boy's eyes and sees himself reflected back.He can't explain why it fascinates him so much. Was it because he was all seeing? He had to admit he wouldn't know what to do with himself if he couldn't see things like he could. He liked being in the know and having it all.
Or maybe he was just vain. The boy's eyes were his new favorite mirror. He wanted to pose and model and watch himself reflected in those foggy eyes.
"Damian?"
He must've zoned out. "What's up, Phillip?"
Pip has his brows furrowed as he looks at him. "You do that a lot."
The demon can't help but chuckle. "Do what?"
"You get all quiet whenever we talk sometimes."
"Noticed, huh?"
He stared into the boy's eyes before shaking his head and turning away.
Phillip nodded, frowning a little. "What's up?"
"I just think a lot and suddenly my head's in the clouds." He laughed a little. "Nothing to worry about. I didn't mean to seem rude or anything though."
Pip shrugged. "It's okay, I guess. I'm not mad or anything."
Damian felt his lips curve into an involuntary smirk. "That's good then. I wouldn't know what to do if you were mad at me, Pip."
Pip scoffed. "Whatever."
"We should head back or else your dear parents will think the worst of me." Damian said dramatically then remembered who he was talking to and stopped.
The younger boy just shrugged then went about getting his bearings. They weren't too far from his home just far enough for some privacy. It was their little spot to get away from the craziness that was work.
"He just means well."
Damian hummed as the boy led the way back to his house. He noticed Pip shiver a little.
"It's getting darker, huh?"Damian looked up to the sky. "Yep."
"We'd better hurry then." The boy picked up a little more speed.
Before long they were back.Damian blinked as he felt Pips hand inside his.
"Maybe sometime you can tell me the stuff you think a lot about?" the boy asked shyly.
His hand slipped out of Damian's . "But only if you want."
"Maybe one day, kiddo."
Pip smiled a little. "I'll take it."
Looking into the boy's eyes Damian wondered what if would be like if the boy could see him. See him stare, entranced by his own reflection. See his unnatural eye burning into his normal human one.
Maybe one day we'll find out.
"Catch ya later, Phillip ."
"See ya, Damian"
Damian couldn't help but snicker "Yeah."
Vain and easily amused. That was him.
"See ya..."
