Chapter 4
I wake up late, so I have rush to get to school. Since I get to school late I have to check into the office. When I walk into the office, standing there is the cutest boy I’ve ever seen but he doesn’t look familiar so he must be new. He has dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, and if I may say, a very built bod, I wonder what sport he plays. No, I can’t think like that, all boys become jerks eventually.
“Hi, I’m late. Can I get a pass to class,” I ask the secretary.
“Sure sweetie, but would you mind showing Colton here to his locker and then to class?” asks the secretary gesturing to him.
“Sure, no problem,” I say to the secretary. “Okay let’s go,” I say to Colton walking out of the office. Once we’re out of the office I ask Colton what his locker number is and he says 2483. We walk to his locker together but I feel an awkward silence looming between us, I hate those, so I decide to break the silence.
“So, Colton, where are you from?”
“I’m, uh, from a little of everywhere, so I was home schooled most of the time,” he says nervously scratching the back of his neck which I found adorable. No, not adorable I think again scolding myself.
“Oh, that’s cool. Do you play any sports?”
“Yeah, I play football. I was actually thinking of trying out for the team.”
“That’s awesome, if you made it I might actually want to go to the game,” I say as we arrive at his locker.
Once he is finished putting away his stuff I ask for his schedule.
“Okay, so you have one class with me, English, which second period that will be starting in 5 minutes,” I say checking the clock in the hallway. “Come on I’ll take you there.”I start walking with him to class just as the bell rings and a flurry of students come out of classes. As soon as the girls see me walking with him, they all give me glares. I’m just walking him to class, why are they acting like that? Even though he’s cute, he is probably a jerk even though he hasn’t said anything rude to me, yet.
We walk into class and Ivy is already sitting there, giving me the tell me later look. I introduce Colton to the teacher and I go sit in my assigned seat. The teacher assigns Colton to sit away from Ivy or I, so I guess that will be the last of us talking. During all of English class I think about how even though I know Colton will end up being a jerk, there is something that pulls me towards him.
After class I go to all of my other classes by myself since Ivy has her other classes on the other side of the school and some other girls in the class offer to walk him to class so I just leave.
Once school lets out, I finally have a chance to talk to Ivy. I would’ve talked to her at lunch, but I had to go to the library to start my science project.
“Okay let’s talk,” Ivy says marching up to me looking serious.
“Fine but can we do it at my house? I don’t want anyone at school starting rumors about me,” I say dragging Ivy to my car.
We get to my house, and as usual, there’s no one home, so me and Ivy take a bag of chips and go upstairs to my room. I know chips aren't the healthiest thing but I really want to just get this over with.
“Okay first comes first. What did your aunt and uncle have to say to you yesterday? You never called me so what’s up?”
“I uhh . . .” I don’t know if I should tell her or not. We’re bestfriends and I completely trust her but, I really don’t know. Is this even my secret to tell? I think about how she would react. She would probably be scared or never even want to see me again, but she deserves to know, so I tell her. I recount the whole story my parent told me and about the time I spent in Amare. Her reaction was not what I expected at all. Ivy thought it was the coolest thing ever. Her best friend was an elf princess from a different dimension, for crying out loud. She then proceeds to asks me a whole bunch of questions and I answer the ones I can. Ivy asks me questions about being an elf. I can’t how many myths there are about my people. It feels really good to get this all off of my chest and Ivy promised to not to tell anyone ever. Everything is going fine, until she decides to ask about Colton.
“So, What’s up with you and the new guy?” Ivy says nudging me.
“Nothing is going on between us,” I say rolling my eyes. What is it with this girl and me getting a boyfriend?
“Sure, then why did you walk him to class?”
“The secretary asked me to show him around. Plus he’s probably a jerk.”
“You don’t know that. It seems like he really likes you.”
“Yeah right. He didn’t even say a word to me after those girls from class started talking to him. Besides I’m not ready to date yet. Maybe if he and I did started talking to we could be friends, but otherwise, I need time. Plus, I need to focus on my magic. This is going to change everything,” I say just now realizing how this newly revealed secret really is going to change everything.
