Knock knock

Elsa turn away from the window as her sister, Anna once again knock on her door.

“Elsa. Would you like to build a snowman?”

Elsa sighs as she sat down on window sill quietly. “Go away, Anna.” She rejected Anna’s offer. Ever since she hit Anna with her curse, she had been avoiding Anna.

The thought of losing control over her powers made her feel terrified to be near anyone. All day long, she would sit in her room afraid to see anyone. Even her parents. It wasn’t their fault she was born with a curse. She know how much they loved her but it wasn’t enough to break her curse and so she withdrawn herself from them.

“Aren’t you going to play with your sister?” A sudden young male voice made her jump up as she looks around with a terrified expression on her face.

“Who is there?” she called out only to be greeted by her increasing powers as the corner of the room begins to be covered in snow.

“Wow. You have the same powers as me.” A young teenage boy appeared in front of her suddenly causing her to fall backwards. “I mean. I know you have the same powers but this is amazing. The boy leans close to her with an excited expression on his face.

“Ah!! Who are you? Stay away from me.” Elsa shouted frantically as she keeps moving backwards away from the strange young teenager.

“Oh, right. Sorry for the sudden appearance.” The boy grins sheepishly. “I am Jack. Jack Frost.”

“Jack Frost?” Elsa gasps as she covered her mouth. “You are real?” Elsa asked naively. She had heard stories of him. Ever since she was a toddler, her parents used to tell her bedtimes stories and as she grows up, she would often read it to Anna. Jack gave her a huge smile as she rubs the back of his head.

“I am flattered that you know who I am.”

Elsa looked at him with a doubtful expression as she stood up. “I don’t believe you. Prove that you are Jack frost.” She said bravely.

Jack chuckles at the sight of her naivety. Usually kids would be excited at the sight of his appearance but Elsa questioned him. He wasn’t sure what he should feel. Disappointed or amused.

Elsa stood up bravely as she places both hands on her waist. “What are you waiting for?”

Jack smiled as he waved his hand on the frozen corner of the room causing the ice to fly towards them and he molded a beautiful ice butterfly before handing it to Elsa. “There. Now do you believe me?”

Elsa held the ice butterfly with her hands as her eyes sparkles with admiration at the beautiful piece. “How do you do this?” She asked as she looks up to him. Unconsciously, her excitement caused her palms to create more ice which then impales the butterfly. She gasps as her excitement turns to fear upon the destruction of the art piece on her palms. She slump backwards as she hug herself. “I am sorry.” She mumbled softly.

Jack look at Elsa as he felt a slight pity on her. An 8 year old who knows nothing about fun because of a mistake. He realized what his task was as a guardian. He sat beside her as he pat her head to ease her guilt.

“It’s alright. There is nothing to be afraid of.”

She squirms further away from him in fear of hurting him only to be stopped by his gentle touch on her shoulder.

“Don’t run away. You won’t hurt me.” He smiled as he held her palms together. “See? We have the same gift. All we have to do is learn how to control it.” He convinced her as she look at him.

“But how? I don’t know if I can control it.” She whispers softly with a hint of fear in her eyes. The corner of the room begins to be covered with ice only to be stopped by Jack as he tightens his grip on her palms.

“I will teach you.” He smiled knowingly at her.
