Walking back to your house, you laid wide-awake in your bed. The cold sheets tickling your bare arms. Staring as blank as a ghost at your window, which casted blue luminescent reflections from the moon above. You sighed, your breath slow as you tried closing your eyes. Drifting slowly to sleep, the air in the room seeming to grow warmer and warmer with every passing second as paranoia spread throughout your body like growing vines. After a bead of sweat formed on your neck your jerked your eyes open, blackness in your peripheral. Sitting upright you scanned your surroundings, with the only sound the race of your heartbeat like a stallion and whistling wind in the nearby trees. Softly turning your pillow to the cold side, you laid down once again this time drifting off to a peaceful slumber.

The next morning, and the morning after that, and the morning following you fell into a routine. Wake up, get dressed, get breakfast and go home. Every time you went there, the same man you saw the day before was at the coffee shop; however he was always numerous tables away.

"Hey- I-I'm sorry about the other day I... acted like a jerk hahah.. can I make it up to you? Buy you a coffee maybe?"

He just kind of looked up at you and motioned his head at the seat near him, so you obliged and sat down and started to get into a conversation with him. After a couple of weeks, you guys began good pals. Often, he would come over to your place and you'd watch a movie together and he'd leave. When you went to his place it was much roomier than yours, but you did the same routine as did your home. It took shy under a month to get to the classification as "dating". One night, you decided to show up to his house uninvited. He was a nice guy, and you didn't imagine him to be the type to leave you outside.

You parked by his house before pausing, asking yourself if this was a good idea. It was unusually humid out, but nothing to be too preoccupied with at the moment. Taking a deep breathe you opened your car door and walked to his door. One... two... three... Fifteen steps to his front door. Your finger shook in the lightest as you rang the doorbell. After a couple minutes, as you were about to turn around and re-think everything the door swung open. You could've sworn for at least a couple of seconds pure rage filtered throughout his face, until he realized it was you and his demeanor faltered in the slightest.

"It's late. What are ya' doing here?"

"I thought I'd stop by... if it's a bad time than I completely understand I'll-"

             "Come in."

You hesitantly stared into his room before looking back at him and stepping inside and making your way to the couch.

"Water? Tea?" He chuckled slightly as he leaned over the sofa and continued; "Juice? Vodka?"

You smiled, responding prompt. "Water is okay. Thank you.."

             "Suit ya' self.."

Although it's been a month, every time you were near him it was like a first encounter. You were weary of his intentions, but you also felt safe in his presence.

"Here you go, m'am" He jokingly teased as he handed you the glass of water.

"Why thank you sir." You joked back. Your response made him waver in the slightest, barely noticeable way but you brushed it off as paranoia. He sat next to you and turned on the Television as you two joked around for about two hours until you noticed how late it was.

"Oh. I should go it's pretty late.. thank you, though."

He raised one eyebrow and smirked, slowly walking towards the door as you followed. He yanked the door open and smiled wider, a single K9 gleaming in the reflection of the Cloudburst. The Television must have been louder than the rain, as you didn't hear it earlier. He just stared down at you, smirking and awaiting your next move. What you said next must have been what he anticipated.

             "May I stay the night?"
