The door creaked as Narcissa tiptoed back into her dorm room. She jumped as the bed curtains flew back from her best friend's bed, then grinned as Olivia poked her head out.
"So, how did it go?" she whispered, excitedly. Narcissa sat down on the bed next to her, still grinning and a little red.
"He asked me out, finally," she whispered back, "and then we kissed." Olivia's hand flew to her mouth, to stop herself from screaming in joy and waking up the three sleeping girls in the room. Harper stirred a little in her sleep, but apart from a small grunt she stayed fast asleep. Narcissa flicked back her long blonde hair and sighed happily.
"So you are now dating Lucius Malfoy, Head Boy and Prefect," whispered Olivia. The young witch was so happy for her friend. The beautiful blonde witch who had guys falling at her feet. Olivia loved her best friend, but felt she didn't compare to her, with her dark brown hair, her olive skin and her [slightly] lower grades. "Narcissa Black, you are one very lucky witch," she grinned.
"I know," smiled Narcissa, barely containing her excitement. "Okay, I have to go to sleep now, I have that Charms test tomorrow. You remember what happened the last time I tried to take the test with very little sleep." She giggled and crept across to her own bed. "Night Liv," she whispered.
"Night Cissy," came the reply.
Narcissa and Olivia had been best friends ever since they were both sorted into Slytherin house 6 years earlier. When the sorting hat had called out "Rosier, Olivia," the pretty, eleven year old witch panicked and had tripped over the step leading up to the stool, where the hat was placed. It took a few moments for the decision, but it felt like forever to Olivia. When the hat called out "Slytherin", everyone clapped and cheered and Olivia was just so relieved to have been sorted, finally, that she hopped off the stool and was halfway across to the Slytherin table before she realised she still had the hat on her head. When she finally got back to the table, red-faced, she sat down next to a pretty blonde girl, who had introduced herself as Narcissa Black. Olivia had heard of the Black family. Everyone had heard of the Black family. They were rich, they were powerful, they were the purest family in the wizarding world. She smiled back and by the time they crawled into their new beds, exhausted, they were on their way to be the best of friends. As the years had gone on, they became inseparable, to the point of having their own bedrooms at each others houses for when they stayed over each summer.
The whispers flew around the Slytherin common room by morning. Was it true? Was the Black girl really dating the Malfoy boy? Narcissa sat on the long leather sofa in her favourite dress, under the shimmering green light that came from the Great Lake above them. Then he appeared. Lucius Malfoy. Her new boyfriend. The whispering stopped and every single pair of eyes followed him across the dungeon common room and over to Narcissa, who stood up as he arrived.
"Do you want to go for a walk," he asked, holding out his hand. "It's a bit crowded in here."
"Okay," she smiled, taking his hand and following him out of the dungeons. In the moments that followed, Olivia was the most popular girl in the room. Everyone rushed over to her, wanting to know every detail, as they all knew she was Narcissa's best friend.
Very few people were out at this time of the morning. Most of them would still be eating breakfast at this point, or just getting back to their common rooms, ready to face the Saturday that faced them.
"You look beautiful today," murmured Lucius, smoothly. Narcissa smiled and moved closer to him, running her fingers through his golden hair.
"I'm glad we finally kissed," she said. "I've been wanting to do that for a while."
"Well then, we have a lot of catching up to do," said Lucius, leaning down and pressing his lips gently against hers.

"God I'm so nervous. Is this really a good idea?"
"Cissy, you two have been in love for forever, you are the perfect couple. Of course this is a good idea." Liv reassured. "Now stand up, let's get your veil on you, and then you can become Mrs Malfoy." Both women grinned. Narcissa was so beautiful in her wedding gown, and with Liv as her Chief Bridesmaid, she was feeling confident, on top of the world. As she walked down the aisle of the church, Lucius couldn't have been prouder and as they both said "I do," no-one in the congregation had a dry eye, including the bride and groom.
