I wake up and see two familiar faces hanging over mine. Quinn and Quill are almost indistinguishable from the latter. They both have flaming red hair the falls to their shoulders, the dark brown eyes of a deer caught in the head lights, and freckles over the bridge of their identical noses. They both look anxious and amused at the same time.
I flick Quill's nose and mumble "morons."
They pull sarcasticly matching faces hurt faces. "How rude," they say in unison.
I sit up and rub my eyes. "Who is in the hospital today?" I ask, not wanting to know the answer. I know who is in the hospital. Riley was the closest person to me when I had exploded. He had recieved the full force of the explosion. Quill laughs darkly.
"Riley is. I've got to say, if you had any chance of being able to go with Riley, it is all gone now. Baylee won't come near us just because we were there," Quinn says. I groan. "I just wish that instead of Riley getting the flames in his face it'd been Baylee. He's such a prat," he adds.
Quill offers a box to me. "Jellybean?"
"Yeah, thanks," Quinn says as he lunges at the box.
Quill laughs, and the box rockets into the air, hovering inches above Quinn's arm's length. "Would you like a jellybean, Brayd?" Quinn glares, and I laugh.
"Yeah." I snap my fingers lazily and the box flies into my hand. Quinn watches me with a hungry expression as I dump a pile of brightly colored candies into my hand and send the box soaring back to Quill. Quinn stands up and walks to the small kitchenette and fills a glass of water.
I flick a jellybean at him. "There you go, you great baboon," I say. He freezes it in midair and grabs it with the air of taking something off the shelf of a supermarket.
I stand up and move to a stool in a small patch of buttery sunlight and look around the bitty apartment that the boys and I share. The hardwood floor that is usually carpetted in a layer of blueprints, papers, and occasionally ash contrasts against the white walls. There is a hole in the wall that one of the twins put there by mistake, a granite island that separates the kitchen and the living room, and a small bathroom just down the hall from that. At the end of the hall, therre is two doors. One is my bedroom, enchanted heavily so that only I can get in, the other opens to reveal three more doors, two of witch belong two Quinn or Quill. The third is our lab, and our favorite room in the house.
The lab is where we go to exersize our powers, make insane exploding mixtures, plan revenge, and simply hang out. When I first got here two years ago, the room was not yet finished being built. The twins added it on without telling anyone so that they could have a 'fun' rooom in the house. They put many enchantments on it, some of witch were highly dangerous, not to mention illegal, so that only we could find it. It also becomes whatever you want it to become. When we need it to become a room to hide something in, it does, if you need it to be a pool, it will, if you need a quick stash of candy, just say the words and you'll have it.
Quinn snaps me out of my trance. "Earth to Brayd!" Quill laughs when my head jerks up from my hands. "You gooing to apologize to your hospitalized boyfriend of what?"
"Yeah- yeah I guess I should, huh?" I stand up and walk out the door. Once I'm in the halls of the Ward, I run.
