Effort. One word I've always hated. Having to get out of bed in the morning, knowing you're waking up just to go out into the world and put up with everybody's bullshit. You can't walk through the shitty hallways at our shitty school without wanting to punch a shitty kid in the face. I have before, but they were always bothering me.
I don't get bullied. Not anymore at least. I took care of that problem myself. Of course, people still talk shit about me. But other than that, I'm completely ignored by everyone. I'm thankful. I don't like social situations anyways.
"Marshall."
I got up from the small chair, and walked into the office. I sat back down in a similar chair, propping my head on my hand.
"So whatcha' need now?" I asked. The vice principal stared at me intently. He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Marshall, this is the..." he looked through his record book. "Sixth time you've gotten in trouble this semester. You're going to get expelled if you keep this up." I sat up straight, my eyes widened in confusion. "What did I do?!" I asked. He sighed again.
"Really, you don't know? Cussing out a teacher? For the third time? Marshall, this is getting ridiculous."
I slumped back into the chair. "Well he was trying to fu-..." I stopped and sighed. "He was like, harassing me. He came up to me during lunch and tried pressuring me to sit with other people. I told him as politely as I could that I was okay where I was, but he still insisted I sat with other people."
"So you told him to 'F' off, and called him a... well you know what you did. I understand he should've left you alone, so I'll just give you detention tomorrow." he said. I groaned loudly.
"Go back to class, Marshall."
I got up, still groaning and walked out. I stopped and headed for my class. I looked at my pass as I walked in the class. I lowered my eyelids as everyone stared at me. I saw three kids standing in the front of the class.
"Class, these are the new transfer students. They transferred from a school not far from here." I awkwardly walked behind them and to my teacher's desk and gave her the note. I went to my desk, and put my head down. I was tired as hell. I drowned out the people talking in front. Two of them looked like total douches. The other just looked like another perfect little boy. I sighed. I rested my chin on my hands, and watched the one boy talk. He seemed nervous. Kinda like me when I have to speak in front of everyone. And they laugh. I sighed again and watched as he spoke.
"Uh... My name's Gumball," I studied the kid's face. His skin was a light, glossy, bubblegum pink. His hair, a darker pink. His big blue eyes stared right at me. I widened mine, and looked away, putting my head back down on the table.
Weird, I thought. I bit my lip, listening to the kid's soft voice. It's calming. I like it.
Then the teacher cut him off, telling them they should sit down.
Rude bitch.
The more jock-looking kids sat down, flirting with all the easy girls. I heard other one sit behind me. The scent of sugar lingered and I knew who it was. I bit my lip again. I put earbuds in my ear and ignored everyone else. Just music, and that sweet smell behind me. I silently mouthed to the music. I yawned, closing my eyes. Just as I was about to fall asleep, someone tapped my shoulder. I mentally groaned. I sat up and let and earbud out of my ear, and turned around. I met with bright blue eyes and my heart started speeding.
