EIGHT MONTHS LATER

''Here you go boy'',the nurse said.
My hands trembled a bit as I cradled my little baby girl.
She was sleeping soundly and my eyes were glued on her.
Beautiful!
My princess.
My doll.
My life.
At that moment I vowed that I would do anything and everything to see her smile.
I looked up to see Veronica standing against the wall smiling.
''Hey V.Come here.Hold her'',I said calling out to her.
Her eyes widened at my words but she did so without haste.
It was adorable to see my kickass of a sis getting nervous while holding my baby.
''What do you wanna name her?'',I asked.
''You want me to name her?'',Veronica asked with a dumbfounded expression.
''Yes I do'',I replied with surity.
''Umm okay.Then how about Sophia?'',she suggested with a smile.
''Beautiful.That will be her name.Sophia.Sophia Gomez'',I replied.
''Yes Sophia Gomez,the beautiful daughter of Drew Gomez,the worthless brat'',she said teasingly.
''Hey!That's absolutely not true'',I defended.
''Sure sure.As you want to believe'',she said.
''Veronica,that's enough baby.Don't tease him anymore.Here give Sophia to me and go home to take some rest.We will neet you there in the evening'',mom said and Veronica nodded.
Before leaving she looked at me and said,''Bro I love you but I have fallen in love with Sophia more.Take care.''
A smile spread on my lips as I replied,''Love you the most.''
She smiled back and left.
I looked at mom to see her handing my baby girl back to the nurse.
''Champ you stay here.We have a little work to finish'',dad said and left with mom.
I sat down on the chairs and leaned back with a heavy sigh.
The past few months have been like a blur.
The DNA test came positive confirming the baby was mine.May was put under special care and mom had made it her routine to visit her atleast once everyday.My parents have done more than what they should've and am forever indebted to them.To say they were the best a million times will be an understatement as well.
Veronica was initially angry at me for hiding this from her but she soon forgave me.She's the most annoying and the best twin sister anyone can ever have.
I haven't visited May in these months.I just couldn't stand the sight of that bitch.The only good thing she has ever done is to deliver my baby girl.
When mom informed me that May was in labour,my breath got stuck in my throat.I was in the restroom after my baseball practice.
I immediately left and arrived at the hospital within fifteen minutes.My heart was beating faster out of anxiety.
We had to wait for twelve hours before May finally gave birth to Sophia.
I felt the most happiest amd luckiest person on earth when I saw my girl.I didn't know such happiness existed before.
It was my first taste of fatherhood and I simply loved the feeling.The emotions I felt when I held her was undescribable.
I promised to shower all my love on Sophia.I would be a hands-on dad and make sure she gets everything she needs.I have to learn a lot of new things for her but I am more than ready for it.
Afterall she's my princess,the sunshine of my life.
And my princess deserves nothing but the best.
I smiled to myself thinking about her.
''Drew'',I was snapped back to reality hearing mom's voice.
''Yes?'',I asked looking up at her.
''Everything's settled.The doctor said May is fine and she will be discharged tomorrow.We had talked to her and handed ber the money.She would leave tomorrow morning.She handed over the sole custody of Sophia to you.She even refused to get a glance of her baby.But she called you to talk one last time'',mom informed.
My jaw clenched in anger.
''Why?There's nothing more to talk.I don't want to face that shitty girl,even though she's the mother of my baby'',I said bluntly.
''Drew language!And just for the last time go and talk to her'',dad said sternly.
''Fine.Now?'',I asked sighing heavily.
''Yes.Room 498'',dad replied.
And I reluctantly went to see the bitch.
''Hey pretty boy'',May greeted me with a smirk as soon as I entered her room.
''I am surprised you are up so quickly after the delivery and seem energetic enough to taunt me'',I scoffed.
''Ah.Don't underestimate me boy.You have no idea what I am capable of'',she said with a wink.
''I don't want to have that idea.So what did you wanna talk about?'',I asked bluntly.
''Hmm straight on point I see.Well,as you already know I have signed the legal papers handing over sole custody of the baby to you.So I don't want any intrusion in my life hereafter.I don't wanna see you or that child ever.And don't even dare to get in my way.It's a warning because if you do,you would definitely regret it.You don't wanna anything to happen to your baby or your family right?So just STAY OUT OF MY LIFE FOREVER.Other than this nothing more'',she said clenching her teeth.
I stared at her for a minute and turned on my heels to go out,clenching my fists into balls.
The audacity she has to threaten me!
She's an impossible woman.
I have never met such a selfish and bitchy woman ever.
''Hey you didn't reply'',she called back.
I stopped in my tracks and turned around glaring at her.
''Two words for you-FUCK OFF'',I spat at her and left.
Sophia is mine and mine only.
Just by delivering her doesn't make her a fucking mother.
She doesn't even know the meaning of ''mom''.
Damn girl!
She could just go to hell!
May Jones doesn't exist for me.
She doesn't exist for Sophia.
I would bring up my baby girl in the best possible way.
She would never be like her mom.
She has me and a family that loves her infinitely.
I am her father and mother both.
Sophia,my sunshine was enough to brighten my life further.
