An alarm's bell rang loudly continually trying to wake its owner out of their deep sleep. Soon a loud groaned came from the lump on the large queen sized bed. A caramel colored arm reached from out orange silk sheets and slammed a hand down on the snooze button rendering the alarm clock useless for another day.
The figure was just about to fall back into a peaceful slumber when a loud shrill voice woke it up again.
"Amelia I heard that alarm! You better be up by the time I get in there or else!" Her mother screamed from downstairs. Amelia let out a loud sigh and got out her bed.
Throwing one last fleeting look towards her beautiful comfy bed she walked to her bathroom to do her early morning routine.
After her shower, clad in only a towel, she stood in front of her full-body mirror and observed herself.
She had long, thick black hair that hung in soft curls to her well-shaped behind. She had a heart-shaped face with a tiny nose and full lips. Her caramel colored skin, which was the perfect mixture of her mother’s milky pale skin and her father’s coco colored skin, was smooth and soft to the touch.
But it was her gold colored eyes with long lashes that caressed her cheeks every time she blinked that she felt like was her most beautiful feature.
So why wasn't she popular with boys falling at her feet and the girls foaming with jealousy?
'Oh because I can't manage a conversation with a boy long enough without stuttering like a dimwit.' She thought glumly.
Sighing to herself she walked to her medium sized closet and took out her outfit for the day. It consisted of grey skinny jeans, an orange top, a black jacket for the chilly Washington air, and her favorite pair of black Levi shoes.
She looked at the clock on her nightstand and saw that it read 7:25. She cursed loudly and grabbed her book bag and ran out the door down the stair and picked up an apple and ran out the door.
But not before she kissed her mother goodbye on the cheek.
She ran as fast as her legs would allow her to the bus stop. She couldn't be late for her first day of 10th grade. That would just be so embarrassing. As she came to her bus stop she saw the bus was just pulling up.
"Thank... god!" She panted. She waited for everyone to get on before she got on last. She saw the bus driver, Mr. Jackson, smile at her. She returned in with one of her own and sat in the middle of the bus. She never sat in the front because they were the automatic targets for bullying and she never sat in the back because that's where all the delinquents and popular kids sat.
And her sitting back there was the equivalent of social suicide. She looked out the window and watched as the smalls suburb homes turned to large up class mansions. She grimaced as she saw the load of loud and obnoxious kids about to get on the bus. She kept her head down and kept her body turned towards the window trying her best to seem inconspicuous.
As the bus screeched forward she let her mind wonder to her three best friends who she hadn't seen all summer since they were all out of town with family.
She had known Katie, Sonya, and Tyler since she was at least twelve. They had come one year and being new in small town where everybody knew everybody. They had no friends. So seeing her chance she gather her courage asked did they want to hang out with her. Of course her stuttering made what she was trying to say barely recognizable but they still said yes regardless.
